AWarGuy Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) If you are having problems then I suggest you get the addon Adblock plus, very handy. Edited December 30, 2010 by AWarGuy

Me too, it didnt happen again though im doing the virus check now and hope its just something to do with the ad provider (they're external to the nexus)
Scorch621 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 did a light scan, Nothing...but I've just logged on and im still getting pop ups...
DeadMansFist849 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 You need to download SuperAntiSpyware and run that. It might be that you picked up adware from somewhere--I have done as well. That, and lots of nasty trojans. ETA:Normal AV programs usually do not pick up adware and might not pick up trojans. This is why I have SAS, Avast, Spyware and MalwareBytes.
micalov Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Another good one to use, if your use firefox is Noscript https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722/
rogue128 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I use ad bloc plus in firefox. I never get any ads! But, about the security hole... I understand. It happens to the best sites, because they are best and no other reason :) I know you take pride in your security and it is sad that people have to ruin what others enjoy. This circumstance will not keep me from coming to the nexus, and I appreciate all your efforts in your security.
bben46 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Pop ups are typically not viruses. They are considered spyware and usually handled differently from a virus. Most Antivirus programs now have anti spyware built in though. If yours doesn't, I recommend either superantispyware or Spybot - search and destroy. Either one will clean out the cookies used to serve those pesky pop up advertisements. IMO, that type of advertising should be banned. Superantispyware: http://majorgeeks.com/SUPERAntiSpyware_d5116.htmlSpybot - S&D: http://majorgeeks.com/SpyBot-Search_&_Destroy_Tools_d2471.html You can run both of them.
Community Manager Dark0ne Posted December 30, 2010 Author Community Manager Posted December 30, 2010 They're not spyware if I've actually put pop-unders on the site. Check the change log forum :wallbash:
