LFact
If you've never played it before, I do not suggest anything other than Unofficial Patches. Play it for a while, then decide what kind of mod you want to get.
tinylampe
I agree with LFact; you should first play the game as it is, and after a while, if you realize that certain aspects bother you, then try to find mods that focus on improving them. Still your message revealed that you may have an interest in cosmetic mods and those that enhance gameplay. Let me give you some names that you can easily check here on TESNEXUS. To improve the general appearence of your character you can try: - Moonshadow Elves: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30707- Elves of Lineage (not sure if they are still popular, but I started with this race and it looks good to me): http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12424- Desu-chan's Kawa-khajits (hit or miss actually, but they may be very appealing depending on your tastes): http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35579 Aside from races you can also try several mods that improve facial textures ("Natural Faces" comes to mind) and others that replace the default body of the characters by more athletic (BAB) or sexualized (HGEC) versions. (just type this letters and start comparing) Finally, about your ohter point (better gameplay) here the range of options is also large and it mostly depends on what type of character you want to be. For example, if you like melee combat definetely try: Deadly reflex: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8273Unnecessary Violence: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24936 If you are into magic then it's worth to take a look at: Supreme Magicka: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12466 Less Annoying Magic Experience: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25267 Midas Magic: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9562And perhaps "Fearsome Magicka": http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30973 Hope that helps! NellSpeed
You may also want to think about what character types you like best: if you play mostly a rogue and rely on stealth, you may want to look for different mods than if you prefer hack-and-slash warriors or wrath-of-the-gods mages. Some suggested mods might alter aspects of the game you may not have a problem with. I'm almost tempted to suggest Deadly Reflex right from the start though so you learn the combat system early. Smooth613
As others have mentioned, don't mod the game until you have some play time under your belt. I'd say at least 30+ hours so you have a good feel for the game. Only use the Unofficial Patches from the start. Otherwise you should, as Majikmonkee mentioned, consider Deadly Reflex v5 early. It's reasonably safe to recommend this mod early since you won't get full benefits and the major combat altering moves until you reach higher skill levels. documn
I agree that you should try the game first and see what you don't like. For me, the first thing I hated was the UI, and therefore I recommend installing Darnified UI!
