Harbringe
(some were probably born in CA, and call that home). As for the labor force argument, if all the illegal aliens left, the farms wouldn't just shut down. The farmers would hire locals instead, or legal resident aliens, or quite possibly invest in more automation. They certainly aren't just going to fold and walk away. I live in a farming area ,my extended family still has farmland ,first job I ever had was on a farm ,where I live we bring in cheap labor from former Soviet bloc countries and Mexicans to help bring in the crops and though to them it may be a good wage in their countries ,in ours its subsistence and there is no way people from here are going to up and go to work farming doing back breaking work ,subsistence wages ,and probably shorten their life span for that kind of pay, like I said if you want your food prices on the shelves to double just get rid of illegal or migrant labor. As for automation we are not anywhere near the level of automation to be able to replace the work laborers do ,you would need technology at the level of I Robot to be able to replace them.Simply put I live in Prince Edward Island Canada we grow a third of Canada's potatoes without illegal or migrant labor it would rot in the fields. There are a few crops that don't require a mass labor force (wheat being one) but most require the dexterity a hand with a thumb provides.Oh farms would try to compensate for it but there would be a huge increase in costs and a huge decrease in output. All of which you will either pay for or go hungry.Seriously this talk of running out the kind of people in American society that do this work is a very very bad idea.
