The No-Reload Challenge!

Honestly, who doesn't reload just to get a preferred outcome?

The challenge: Truly accept the consequences of your actions by refusing to do do-overs by reloading! Anyone up for it?

This means doing a hardcore playthrough where reloads are only acceptable when:

1) Something buggy happens, and you have no choice.

2) You die, and you have no choice.

3) Your latest save reloads you in an impossible position (i.e in the middle of 6 Cazadores at level 10)

This means, no reloading for:

1) Unsuccessful sneak attempts

2) Unsuccessful pickpocket attempts

3) Companion Death

4) Battle/combat do-over

5) To re-do a dialogue with an NPC so that you can meet a check by using a skill mag (or some other modifier) the second time around.

6) To re-do an action with comsequences just to see what happens if you try it different ways (i.e trying different speech options, deciding to kill or not kill a person, etc)

7) Any others I didn't mention here that aren't the 2 permissible reasons.

Also

NO exiting hack/lockpick screen before lock-out/breaking the lock occurs so that you have infinite attempts at hacking/lockpicking.

Who's in?

I would join, but I can't, and the cause for that is that it needs to be in HardCore mode, which even though everytime it comes up I select yes, it never puts it in hardcore mode, unless i do it manually, but to make it really realistic, it would need to be on the first time, and not when you leave the house

Nothanks on the no Terminal exits, as I often end up in situations where I can't simply solve it in 4 tries and you don't always get an allowance replenish combination either :/

Other than that, would reloads be allowed if I decide to save the game and obliterate camp golf just because I want to inflict massive damage just for fun? :P

Actually that is the only way you set it, you can't select it as a general setting, it is specific to a game.. and I don't think the 15 mins spent inside Doc's house setting up your character before choosing this option qualifies at being unrealistic..

haha, I guess its all about the spirit of the challenge. But I guess thats ok, if you just shaking off some boredom. What would be cooler though is going on a rampage, and continuing on :)

Maybe that is the way I play, or because I am naturally skilled at counting letters/fiddling pins, but that is how I almost played the first time down (I did reload a couple of dialogs that went the wrong way). And how I played the second run through (to get the RNC ending).

The first time no companions survived the game, except for Lily that never left Jacobstown. I was loved by most everybody, even the RNC (who helped take down the legate, playing as an independent).

The second time I just did their quest and parked them in the Lucky 38, and even then Raul and Ed-E died before finishing theirs.

Vanilla hardcore is not so hard, except for the dumb companions.

Oh, and hi. Even with the bugs, it is much better than FO3.
