Do we have any 2k or 4k benchmarks for a heavily moded Skyrim?

I'm curious, do we have any 2k and 4k benchmarks for a heavily moded Skyrim?

To say ENB+Textures+Mesh+Grass+Tree+ect?

I'm trying to decide between going with a 2k or a 4k monitor once the 980 TI and 390x/395x2 are released, but I have little idea if 4k would be too ambitous of a goal when I have 400+ mods (merged) installed that destroys performance.

I ran it at 4K on a 970GTX and held around 30FPS with a few dips, I'm using HDMI so the frame rate was limited to 30. My game is pretty heavily modded with about 200 installed, that said it's not the number of mods but what the mods do that impacts performance, one obvious concern is memory, Skyrim is 32bit and thus limited, hit that limit and it's game over.

Here are some shots at 4k with FPS showing. I have a Core i7 @ 4ghz, 16Gb ram, R9m295x 4Gb ram, 1tb SSD. I run at a limited 60 fps most of the time with ENBoost and texture and mesh HD overhauls. ENB post processing cuts the frame rate dramatically at 4k - I don't recommend it. Good luck with your build.

I have recently got a new computer custom built cost just under £2500 and over the last month or so been playing skyrim in 3840x2160 res @60hz on a LG 55" ultra HDTV with just over 230 mods and using realvision ENB along with weather and lighting mods and i have things like 2k textures, verdant grass plugin, Skyrim Flora Overhaul, Realistic Water Two, Expanded Towns and Cities.

There are a lot of demanding mods in my game ( The ENB is very demanding at 4k ) and at the above res i get between 25-35 fps it can be a bit slow for about 5 seconds after a load screen but very very smooth after that.

You can find my system specs and a link to some pics i took at the above res here http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1516015-can-i-run-skyrim-in-4k/ There is also a lot of information on problems and solutions in that thread reguarding getting my system running with my tv.

PS I don't know what the price difference is between a 4k tv and monitor but playing on a 55" tv is unbeleveable.

PPS To Jim_uk i don't know why you were limited to 30 fps but i also use HDMI and am able to get 60hz and how i did this is also in the above thread.

That's far better than I thought a single GTX 970 could push. Have you noticed any issues with the Vram?

The memory issue used to be a nightmare for me, but since the memory patch I've not had any crashes from it. I can't say how well it holds up beyond the 1920x1200 I play on now, but I recall it going to 400MB without any issues. Were as before it would crash at 256MB every time.

just been playing with 4K phinix natural ENB STEPS extended 220mods, with no enb i get 60fps with one Titan X with enb on i get drops to 30-45, i can hit 60fps with Titan X SLI EBN on

i been useing 4-4.3 gb of vram with ENB on

3.5-4.2 with it off

looks really good in 4K with out ENB, i think ENB useing lots of AA and at 4K you dont need it

i do see a bit of difference dont think its worth the performance hit

i did try RealVision got 30fps no higher im on a 32inch Ben Q IPS monitor

first pics with ENB ON

2ed lot ENB off

Nice to know the Titan X eats a moded Skyrim up. DX12 is suposedly going to allow stacked vram, which I really hope is true because going over that 4GB limit would be a pretty bitter pill to swallow.

Ah, alas I just learnt that a game like Skyrim will not benefit from DX12 since it wasn't made with DX12 in mind.

  • 6 months later...

5930K @4.5Ghz, 980Ti STRIX SLI with K ENB Northern Lights (SSAO off) @7680x1440p (3xROG SWIFT monitors in surround): average FPS with ~300 mods is 33 FPS.
