Difficulty slider

I didn't adjust mine until I had leveled up a bit, personally. Since then I've leveled up to something in the mid-forties (Lvl 43? 44? can't remember) and I've been rountinely playing at Diff +30 for some time. I also run a couple of mods that make Morrowind more difficult, generally speaking. The combination keeps things interesting.

I set it to 100 from the start - It changes the game completely in the beginning. Survival is a chore, rather than assured, but, then, I like to do things the hard way anyhow.

My wife runs it about 40, and my daughter at 0.

I guess the only good answer to this question is to play with it. Set it to various settings and see how you like it. What works for you probably won't work for everyone. If you enjoy it the most, it's set at the right level.

As far as things getting tougher - there are leveled creatures out there, so they will seem to get stronger as the game goes on. That's a function of your level, not the slider, though. (Though the slider will give them a stronger point to start from)

First time round I played a balanced game but I found it relatively easy. Now I set it at plus 100 at the start. It means being more careful. It certainly makes the game harder if walking in the open.

+100 from the very start B) .

And I still think the game is easy. I am level 33 custom made combat oriented Redguardess. I think only Umbra and Lich from Firemoth are the worthy opponents which I met up to now. Didn't meet old good Ur though :P
