luxwing0go
True, they could have added some extra animations to make it a tad more interesting, but I daresay the current system isn't necessarily boring to me. But honestly, I tend to not stick with just a sword. I sneak, rain arrows and spit out magic from a distance. Then, if they survive and reach me, THEN I pull out my sword. I think it's all in whether or not all you do is sit there and swing your sword until eternity. :P Warrior types, am I right? The marvelous thing about Oblivion is that you DON'T have to use a weapon at all. Hell, put up them dukes and see if you still think it's boring! *dies* Okay, well it's certainly harder... Hell, if you get tired of swinging that mace around, run away! Jump in the river or hide under a bridge! Kinda adds some immersion anyway - I certainly wouldn't realistically stick around to slice and dice an ogre in the real world, hahaha! But hey, your opinion is your opinion. :3 There are always mods to change up the battle system anyway.
SandsOfTime404
Yeah lol. If I bite off more than I can chew I dart for some water. It's the only way to be invincible without God Mode. For whatever reason, NPCs don't have water breathing abilities. Just don't mess with an Argonian.
xTempest
Just don't mess with an Argonian.^One rule that is all ways true in oblivion. I think that even the magic and archery systems need some work.Illusion magic for example can make you very over powered. Just toss out a paralyze spell and toss fire balls at the enemy until he dies. If you get in a tough spot, all you have to do is cast an invisibility spell and run. If you use archery and sneak.. well when's the last time you didn't kill your target with the first shot? Ok, maybe that happens very often.. but if your sneak level is high enough they usually dont even detect you with the first shot!
SandsOfTime404
Yeah, but once you've advanced the skills enough anyhow you're going to be pretty much invincible. The game seems to get a lot easier the higher my level goes, which is why I typically increase the difficulty setting gradually each level after 20 or so. If you're stuck in a pinch, it's really easy to just throw up Invisibility, sneak around a bit, chug a few health potions, and then go right back to it. Heh, just like the FFXII boss battles... *sigh* Good times. If the game did not have to where you can adjust the difficulty whenever you please, then I would be pissed. Seriously, having it set on normal when you are lvl 25 fighting 7 bandits is pie. But, nudge that baby over to hard....*shivers* (That's why I like Fran's mod where you have the chance of more enemies appearing. Ran into a cave with 7 Daedroths right at the door. At level 10! lol)
