Wigs? Equipable Hair?

Was looning in NVEdit and GECK and noticed that armor has a hair slot and hair is it's own thing how hard would it be to make the various hair models equipable do i just make a armor element and link the niff file to the hair? Any ideas?

I did this for a character in one of my mods (a ghoul) because I didn't want to go through the hassle of making a custom race to prevent compatibility issues. It works if you simply make a piece of armor and point the mesh to the hair, yeah. As usual with new hats you may have to mess with FNVEDIT to fix the bug that makes the hat appear tilted 90 degrees, or tilt the hair mesh itself.

 

Of course, the lame thing is that you'll have to edit the texture of the hair directly if you want to change the color and getting natural colors in NV is kind of difficult, and since you do not have an egm file to fit the hair to the character's head, there'll probably be some clipping here and there. But yeah, it's totally doable. :yes: I don't know if you're aware, but armor has a hair slot so hair can be hidden under helmets, hoods and stuff like that.

so i was getting ready to copy the combat helment as a base when i a idea hit me, is there a script function like gethair and sethair because it seems to me another patch could be to fetch once and store into a viariable the payers current default hair then when equiping the items do set hair that way your personal hair colors would be maintained
