Clothes, Hairs, and Eyes. If it's not one, it's another causin

I'm using HGEC body v1.21, Robert's Male Body v5, Beautiful People 2.7, Ren's Beauty Pack, EVE HGEC Body Stock Clothing Replacer, and Zeladins Hairfix (withRenHair)v1.5, among a number of others

I've downloaded a number of HGEC clothing and armor mods. However, I'm encountering problems with some of them, and I wanna see anyone can give me some insight.

1) Although some of the armor/clothing appear in CS window, when I check to see if they work on an NPC, they make certain parts of them go invisible (hands, feet, body).

Example Mod: Dancer's Clothes

2) In the CS, I put one of the modded clothing/armor sets into the NPC's inventory for them to equip. Although it's the only thing in their inventory, when I play the game, I find they're wearing a different clothing set by the same maker.

Example Mod: Westwind Rogue Armor

3) I've got a custom eye set for the Khajiits, but with Ren pack, those eye textures are messed up and appear strange. As if the colors have been stirred and the pupils are missing.

4) when I turn Beautiful People off, eyeballs disappear.

The issues are in order of highest concern. If I could get some feedback about any of them though, life would be a lot easier. Please help :(

1:

- Make sure you installed all resources correctly. Body replacers, clothing mods.

2.

- A normal plugin(.esp) cannot be dependant on other normal plugins. If you want to give NPCs custom clothes, you'll have to add them as new item, give it to NPC, then save newly made plugin. Or, you have to make your plugin depend on other plugin via mod de-isolation(read tutorial).

3&4:

- Do not try to use Ren's Beauty Pack and Beautiful People together. (BP = Elaborate Eyes+Ren's+Ainmhi+others)

- What kind of eye texture you tried to use? You have to get right texture for right meshes. If you installed Beautiful People, it will replace default eye meshes with Elaborate Eyes meshes(I know, it may cause issues with custom races and other cosmetic mods, but it will work with custom race adding mods which use only default eyes better than original Elaborate Eyes).

- If you're using Robert's male body with BP, do not use RM+BP compatibility plugin. That is for older version of BP, and due to change of eye mesh paths, using it can cause 'missing eye' problem unless you installed Elaborate Eyes as well.

Thank you very much :) . I will try these. But I have some questions about your suggestions.

About 1. I'm gonna try this, but I believe in a couple of the mods I downloaded there was some talk about older computers not being able to handle the size of their mods. Something along the lines that they only made a high resolution texture. In the game, I've got the texture size on (Large) and resolution at 1024x768. Could this be a factor in some of the body part disappearances?

About 2. So, essentially, if I converted my esp file into an esm, would that allow me to use clothes without having to make a new item for each thing I want an NPC to wear?

About 3&4. So should I just use Beautiful People? The eye pack I had was a Cat's Eyes Pack meant only for Khajiits, and it looked like the textures had been messed up or competing with BP. Does BP include more eyes for the Khajiits to use? If not, it's no problem.

Again, thanks so much for the input.

Any more suggestions from others is welcome too.

1) Although some of the armor/clothing appear in CS window, when I check to see if they work on an NPC, they make certain parts of them go invisible (hands, feet, body).

Example Mod: Dancer's Clothes

This can be caused by missing textures or meshes, or in some cases by the meshes themselves not being properly pathed to the textures they use.

3) I've got a custom eye set for the Khajiits, but with Ren pack, those eye textures are messed up and appear strange. As if the colors have been stirred and the pupils are missing.

Issues with races/hair/eyes as you are describing are caused by running several incompatible mods. You really can only get away with a single cosmetic mod without a lot of tinkering.

If you need Zeladin's hair fix, you might be interested in the old version of Modified Hair & Eyes that includes it. http://www.mediafire.com/?zhzwh9mhj4g (moderators, this is my own mod - no rips/illegal content)

Thank you for letting me know this. How would I go about checking a mesh'es path?

I also agree that I only want to deal with 1 cosmetic mod. Is there one you can suggest (the hair isn't a must have, but I grealty appreciate the link :) )

The way I check is with NifSkope. Once you open up the mesh file (file extension is .nif) then you can click on any of the parts of the armor and check the file path on the left side.

Here's an example.

As far as which cosmetic mod to recommend - the problem is there are so many. I have a newer version of the one I linked you here (link is dead), or you may be interested in the Japanese "Beautiful People 2ch Edition." I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link it here, but if you put in "Beautiful People 2ch Edition 1.8.0 Fixed" you should be able to find the file on the Japanese Modder's Forum. Just don't use these two mods together because they aren't compatible. The main difference is eye type. Beautiful People has an eye mesh that lets you have each eye a different color if you wish, while my mod does not.

Awesome! I'll see what I can do with Nifscope. I assume I can fix the mesh file paths with it if their not properly organized.

Thanks a bunch.
