SandsOfTime404
I've got all my Steam stuff in Program Files(x86) and have never had these problems. Hopefully I didn't just jinx it...Meh, it's not a big deal since I just reformatted. I only have 2 games installed including Oblivion.Yeah, it'd be a bigger deal for me though. I've got five games installed through Steam. Won't want to have to download those all over again lol.
Warfare12
I guess I was wrong.. I am still getting the error. This is so strange.. EDIT:I got it to work after messing around with it for a while. Now my problem is that I can't start a new game. When I click NEW a window pops up asking yes or no, but the buttons to nothing. JohnnyWarmonger
Same problem here....running Oblivion GOTY Deluxe Edition. After deleting the .ini file in my documents and double clicking the game in the game library I get the message that Oblivion will detect my video settings. After that I get the message: Your video hardware is unrecognized. video quality settings defaulting to medium quality. After I close the box for that message the game crashes. When I try to start the game after that (without deleting the .ini file) the game immediately crashes without trying to detect my video settings. Here's the error log:Problem Event Name: APPCRASHApplication Name: OblivionLauncher.exeApplication Version: 1.0.0.1Application Timestamp: 443532f8Fault Module Name: OblivionLauncher.exeFault Module Version: 1.0.0.1Fault Module Timestamp: 443532f8Exception Code: c0000005Exception Offset: 0000c2edOS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1Locale ID: 1033Additional Information 1: 51ddAdditional Information 2: 51dd5632ec49c0b0482fa3180364c4edAdditional Information 3: f73eAdditional Information 4: f73e7dbc74bc4c08ca9962c351ed364d Ive tried all of the possible fixes that have been posted on the Steam forums so far (set music and sound to 0 in the ini file, disabled the steam community in game, rolled back and updated sound and video drivers, and Im not running multiple displays). I know the game will work on my system because at one time I had a cracked version of the game which I uninstalled prior to installing this version. I've also checked to make sure there are no traces of the previous version on my system. I just tried disabling my onboard sound in the BIOS but that didn't work either. Edited January 6, 2011 by JohnnyWarmonger
