Skyrim Armor

Hey, don't hate bro, just asking if some rumors are true is all

There are no armor parts like boots or gloves in Skyrim, it is full sets all locked as one like in fallout 3, I hate this, and think it takes away a lot from the game, if I want to have glass boots and iron greaves I should be able to.

Once again it is Bethesda nerfing the game, just like all the game co. out side Japan have been doing for the last 7 years. soon all "RPGs" will be on rails and all for the kinect, no inventory, no skills, no attributes, no open worlds, no nothing.

Say goodbye to RPG's folks, (sigh) at least we will always have Morrowind.

"There are no armor parts like boots or gloves in Skyrim" is a declarative statement, not a question.

I've tried a few JRPGs but I just couldnt get into them, I have to admit, I found some of them to contain some pretty offensive stuff, but5 more frequently I just couldnt understand what the story was doing. Im used and fond of complex, but this is a sort of complex I'e notr seen outside Japanese games. I dont know if Japanese people just have an incredible level mental accuity, if I'm just a dumb Scot, or if they really are too complicated for their own good. Generaly speaking western storytelling tends to be strictly linear, sometimess branching, but always linear working from the start to the end. I tried MGS and FF, but their storytelling approach seemed to be more like a ball of string to a western tree.

As for throwing the armour at us in suits, that limits modability slightly, but if you read the FO3 GameGuide Bethsoft put out, they issuesed what was essentialy an apology, saying that the reason for one-piece suits was so that the art department could focus more on designing the suits, rather than thinking out the clipping that occurs when you stick two of them together.

I wouldnt really mind as long as it all looks cool, and anyway, I've seen some RPGs pull this technique off perfectly, like Torchlight. FInaly, it means that if you find a suit of armour, you won't have to run around for years trying to find the rest of the set, which can be a pain in the neck, if you just cant find those Daedric Gauntlets.

Still, I will m,iss my hodgepodge aesthetic of a black Nazgul robe, pink + black stripey knee-socks, a beret, and jackboots, with black/pink stripey hair for good measure.

he still hasn't shown a source about the armor comment. i highly doubt it too, ive never heard of this in all the previews ive read. its just a rumor and theres a lot of them for skyrim. in fact if you read the comments in ign or gamespot, you'll read stuff like "i cant believe you can only play a human race now" or "only nords can become Dovahkiin" or my Favorite "argonians wont be in skyrim because they went extinct"

Lawdy-oh.

I think it would be a safe bet that they'd go for a falloutlike system, since it's got a lot in common with fallout on a technical level, however something doesnt feel quite right about Cedar's posts.

Still, as long as I can play as my cheerful, brightly coloured 'lil black riding hood Im happy. This game needs humor, and the Grim Reaper as a cheerful pink-socks wearing Goth would be a great start.

Source?

he also made a topic saying there wont be a jump button so i wouldn't believe what this guy says

edit: "just like all the game co. out side Japan" srsly JRPGs hasnt changed from the PS1 days and thats why western RPGs makers now dormant the world of RPGs

Hey, don't hate bro, just asking if some rumors are true is all, I never said there would be no jump button. Thats where the question mark at the end of the topic comes in handy, see it makes the words before it a question, not a statement. ;)

You didn't use a question mark. If its only a rumour please say so. Why don't inteviewers of Todd Howard ask proper questions like these rather than general ones that we ger the same reply from!?

Well, actually, if Bethesda keeps the same damned face editor they've had for the last few games, with the non-orthogonal design where pulling on a slider for the forehead also moves unrelated sliders on pages like the chin or nose, and not in a good way... I'm thinking I know what armour I'll wear and I'll probably get into modelling armor for it too. A burqa :P

Because Skyrim will actually have dragons roaming around for this next chapter to the Elder Scrolls, I do hope the skins and/or scales of dragons can be looted and made into armors. Bethesda should learn from modders such as the teams responsible for MMM, OOO, and Warcry. Oblivion had clutter materials that were essentially useless until talented modders changed that problem. Different dragon types should offer different kinds of scales/skin that should be contributed to what color and what kind of dragon armor a character can make out of the materials. Players should also have the ability to color their armors for deep customization using inks collected from certain plants etc.

As for the endless debate on "bikini armors": I don't know what's with the hate (sometimes even to extreme levels) with "bikini armors". Entertainment such as TES is based on fantasy medieval themed settings; this means that eyecandy has always been a pretty large factor in glamorizing such entertainment. The keywords are FANTASY and ENTERTAINMENT. If I can recall it correctly, an old Elder Scrolls game has a picture of a female warrior wearing "bikini armor" on the game case cover; this shows that even Bethesda has a thing for such fantasy themed entertainment. Now I'm not one in favor of double melons with extremely skimpy "bikini armors", but I do love how fierce female warriors such as Red Sonja and the amazon Tyris Flare are portrayed for the fantasy world. Guess what? Tyris Flare and Red Sonja also wear "bikini armors". Look at Conan the Barbarian: he wears what is borderline extremely skimpy "bikini armor". If some people are so anti-bikini armor, it's not difficult to just turn a blind eye from such mods or even from some armors found in the game originally made by the developers. I don't understand why some people just can't accept entertainment for what it is: entertainment.
