StHapns247
I remember playing Oblivion on my P4 system when it first came out and what I had to cut back on to make it playable. I re-installed the game a few days ago to back and play it again thinking "I'll be able to max EVERYTHING out!" and this was true. I have everything maxed out, except for GRASS! If I turn grass on AT ALL it drags my outside FPS down to 20. This is having it one click above off. My system:Intel Core i7Geforce 470 GTX6GB RAMPlaying at 1920x1080 If I turn grass off I get 60 FPS everywhere. I've installed all the grass mods that are supposed to improve performance, nothing helps. I still can't believe grass is still such a resource hog... Or do you think something else is wrong? Anywho, just thought I'd post this. Anyone got grass running at 60 FPS on a system? Please let me know!
majikmonkee
I installed the mods intended to reduce grass system hogging but the difference wasn't that noticeable. I confess, I just turned grass off completely for a while, and I kind of like it that way now. Lame? Perhaps, but I don't have any of my other scenery settings turned up to the max, so it's not really that noticeable (my "old" computer, which is about a year old, runs things somewhere between the low and medium quality settings). SandsOfTime404
I've never had issues with the grass. Baffles me how it's such an issue for so many other people. Of course, the initial loading of an outside cell has about a 1-second lag, but other than that I'm noticing no significant drop in fps or performance. Deleted1848331User
I have my grass distance set to 22%. I have no lag due to the grass now. I hate the grass sometimes. Its fun to play without it (you can actually see; the grass obscures your vision in sneak :pinch:) but it looks too unnatural to me.
StHapns247
So I messed around with some settings. Turns out with HDR enabled instead of Bloom I get 60FPS everywhere, even with grass turned all the way up. I do get dips when things load and stuff, but I can't believe HDR made that big of a difference. I like the look of Bloom better, but it ain't not big deal.
