With prospecting, you're looking for pieces of rock that stick out from the side of cliffs/mountains with small coloured rocks/crystals sticking out of them. If you go up to them and it says something like "Sulphur" then you can click (if you have a pickaxe in inventory) and mine from it. Most of these veins can be found in caves, such as the rebel cave at Reddock.

Queue the music from the old hamlet advert.

Take out that Black Rhobar

Ever had one of those Doh! moments.......

Now I have an excuse to visit all those old spots. Would these crystals also be the ones that shed light when sticking out of rock?

Seriously though thanks. :)

No. They don't do anything. And I think Switch means Okara, not Reddock.

You can mine gold, sulphur, ore (i.e. magic ore) and iron.

Most mines in Myrtana are around Geldern.

Keep all magic ore as it is used as currency in parts of Nordmar.

Thanks again.

Spent most of my time last night adventuring around Trelis; sounds stupid I know, but does any one know or can recall where to find Ben's lost shovel?

Meanwhile it's off to Geldern, then Silden and Okara, finally heading south to Montera, whilst avoiding Gotha; there is something about the skull and name that causes me to feel I want to be in the late 20s+ before I take on that location.

Hopefully by next week I will then head down to Varant; the heat exhaustion aspect sounds intriguing.

Cheers

Ben's shovel is in the Trelis temple, which is east of the city I think. He tells you where it is. You will also need to go to Vengard before heading off to Nordmar. You can do it before or after Varant but be sure you have 11 Fire Chalices when you head for Nordmar.

Ok, Gents a new discussion point. :)

Dual weilding swords; are they worth it?

Recently i have travelled to Varant and learned this skill; I fail to see the advantage.

Having taken on opponents with this skill and tried it out myself I fail to see what it has to offer.

What if anything am I missing?

Cheers

It's a necessary step on the road to becoming master dual wield where the blades do more damage (I am told) and it looks nice. DW mastery is only available in Ishtar and totally mister nice guys will never be able to get there.

But melee weapons in G3 are not the most effective - arrows and spells are better in most situations.

Having said that, I enjoy slicing my way through the fields of undead in Ben Sala.

Ben Sala? Sounds like fun. The hordes of Tough Sandcrawlers and Sandcrawlers near Ben Erai provided good sport. :)

Certainly discovered that a halberd is more effective against creatures then a sword, regardless of how good one is with a sword (Large 2 vs Master sword).

Hope DW2 looks better then basic.

Do all large weapons have the same reach, for example does an axe have the same reach as a halberd?

BTW Earlier on in the game I entered a cave near the grain thieves which opened up into an area with lots of Tunnel Crawlers and gargoyles on one side and undead on the other; too low a level player to take them on then but if you like hordes of opponents....... :)

What you probably don't know is that there are a a lot of special weapons (and magic items) that can be picked up in the game. They are in the 'nameless' chests. The items appear in a specified order, gaining in power as you find more chests, along with other random loot of no great value. One of those chests is in the cave with the grain thieves.

I have reached number 36 'Master Sword'.

There are 39 chests in Myrtana/Varant and 9 in Nordmar. Not having been to Nordmar in my current game I should have found all 39. I know where two more are but cannot open them without unfortunate consequences. One I must have missed although I don't know where.

The 'magic items' chests have jewellery and top level spell scrolls like 'bless weapon' and some permanent potions and recipes. I don't know how many of those exist.

These are the chests with no name when you look at them and occasionally needing the impossible pick lock skill.

Cannot be any where near 30+ because so far they just contain the usual quality items you find in a metal chest and the odd decent scroll; nothing like bless weapon though. The last chest had a soul travel scroll.

Thanks for the heads up but still curious about the weapon reach comparison between axes and halberds, etc.
