MajorKiller
so I finally had a clean install of FCOM and lots of other mods, so I decided to install all natural weather mod. it said you had to edit your bashed patch which I did but when I got in game OBGE was messing it up so I uninstalled it. I then reverted back to my backup I made before editing the bashed patch and got CTD's randomly, like when I fast traveled. So basically my question is simple, I made a backup before I installed and edited my bashed patch. I deleted my new one and reverted back to my old one, is it ok to delete a bashed patch and replace it with your backup or does building a patch do more than just that and edit other mods other than just bashed patch, 0.esp
Lexx666
The bashed patch will change and recompile every active mod in your load order that you currently run in wrye bash. If you delete a bashed patch that contains information from your current load order i suggest you make a backup of it first if that bashed patch worked for you.By adding mods and activating them in wrye bash, you need to rebuild the bashed patch every time if some of the added mods contain information and change one or more of the same things in oblivion.Basically to answer your question, bashed patch is the only thing that will keep all your stuff glued together and trying to combine, merge and edit stuff to make it work.Random CTD's are a common issue, the question is if you edited something else and not only the bashed patch, cause it actually should work if you activated the backup of it you mentioned before. MajorKiller
well I did get CTD's before I edited it, so maybe it's fine because it was the exact backup from when it was working however the last I edited my bashed patch was when I first installed FCOM, since then I have installed many other mods that I never integrated into the bashed patch. I would, but when I click rebuild bashed patch this comes up http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/6980/modproblem.jpg I know that I probably have to edit something in the bashed patch, but I'm not exactly sure what to do. I followed a guide when I built the bashed patch but it only included FCOM and not other mods such as better cities so I'm not sure what to edit with other mods. Lexx666
Can you remember the mods you added before cause it seems that some of them you recenlty added and didnt integrated into the bashed patchare making trouble and/or are causing compability issues or they could have placed themselves under the bashed patch, wich would in the end edit the patch itself and change the whole list again.Try to make a few backups of the bashed patch when you start to merge the mods. Also try some combinations and see if there are more or less CTD's after applying and activating another bashed patch, after all you can always safe a backup of it to spare yourself anymore trouble by working and merging huge amounts of mods that are all active in your load order. To remind you and others, Cobl is pretty sensitive to any changes and could also cause trouble if you recently added cobl to your mod list, especially if any other huge overhauls are activated like FCOM. MajorKiller
well the only mods I added to the bashed patch was FCOM, cobl, and some other mods but I've installed many other mods after that and have never put them into the patch and the game ran fine. I just played oblivion for a while to see if I got crashes and I didn't get any at all, except sometimes I got a CTD... very weird especially because I was just getting them so maybe it's ok now but I guess I will try and figure out ways to make a new bashed patch with all my mods
Lexx666
Its always a good idea to have more than one bashed patch available for the modsbecause you can always return to your favorite settings from back then when the game ran smoothly and without too many CTD's.Try to combine and look into it further, i believe there must be a setting that will allow a somewhat smoother gameplay and wont CTD so often. MajorKiller
woops I meant to say sometimes I get a CTD when i exit oblivion, but now thats not even happening so CTD's seem to be resolved with my current patch but I will keep trying to make it better. now the only thing is that I have some stuttering, but I think that has always happened so I guess I will have to deal with that thanks for your help
Fonger
woops I meant to say sometimes I get a CTD when i exit oblivionOld saying If you don't crash on exit - you need more mods There's several exit crash mods available to help resolve this issuewhen it finally surfaces and my favorite issue Super Duper Uber Lag on exit solved by console command Player.disable ; fastest controlled crash known to Akatosh or man alike
