New Mods Cause Crash - Reinstalling/Merged Patch/Disabling Doesn't Work

I came back to Skyrim after a long stretch of Fallout and wanted to kick it off with some new mods. I know for a fact that, before I left Skyrim, my game was in working order and did not CTD on start, on load, etc.

But after installing some new mods (mostly NSFW) I started having problems, so I went through the usual fixes and how to determine which mod was causing problems... Until I had disabled all of the mods I had newly installed, and my problem still persisted.

I ran TES5Edit to look for errors and it found none, so I made a merged patch just in case, which didn't help. I unticked the newly installed mods one by one until I was left with my old mods that still wouldn't work, so I was at my last straw when I started to reinstall all of the new mods.

But here's where it gets weird: With these new mods, whenever I try to load a saved game, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, even if I haven't changed anything. If I can get in the game, I'm fine, with no CTDs. It's getting there that's the hard part.

So, here's my load order. I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me figure out why I can't play Skyrim.

Hey Foxi2,

Just to check since you said you were away for a while playing Fallout. Since returning, have you updated SKSE and installed the latest version? Did any of the new mods add animations? and if so, did you run FNIS after installing?

Simple things can be forgotten and then remedied easily. Let me know if this was the case.

Yes, I had to update SKSE to the 1.7.2 beta build because a mode required it, and I updated FNIS after installing all of the mods but before launching the game. Could it be that the beta build is unstable to work with everything I have?

Doubtful I'm also using the beta build and experiencing no issues. Stupid question, but have you tried starting a new game? If so did it work?

I have a save file just before the character creation menu from before I downloaded all these new mods that I can load up just fine, but even if the new mods are activated or not I still get the problem.

Have you checked all the requirements for the new mods? Perhaps you are missing necessary files for the mods to work / be compatible? Or perhaps one of the new mods is incompatible with one of the older mods. Can you check this as a possible cause?

I checked all the required files and made sure I have them. As I said in the original post, the problem still persists even after I've deactivated all of my mods.

Then something has been permenantly replaced in the game files. Sorry to say this but it looks like you're going to lose your save data. I'd recommend at this point, moving your skyrim installation to another folder and reinstalling it via steam. Reinstall the mods and see if you have issues now. If you still have issues after reinstalling Skyrim then there's an incompatability with one of the mods that's been missed. The order I usually install mods in is this.

Skyrim > DLCs > Unofficial Patches > SKSE > FNIS > Animations > Textures > Everything Else.

I find installing things in the correct order and overwriting files in the correct order is better than installing everything and hoping something like BOSS or LOOT can fix the installation. Sorry i can't be of more help, but like I said keep the old installation (just moved) and maybe someone else can offer you some advice to fix that, but for now I suggest you reinstall Skyrim.
