stebbinsd
I've committed numerous crimes accidentally, and when I was playing a law-abiding citizen. There are some mods out there that make it so that you can't steal items unless you're crouching, but that doesn't prevent the accidental assaults and murders when you're in the middle of a dragon fight. I'd like to see a mod that's more realistic ... a mod that lets you actually plead your case to a guard! The level of speech skill needed to convince the guard to look the other way would be dependent upon a variety of factors. Severity of the crimeSmall crimes, like trespassing, or stealing an item worth 10 gold or less, would require only 25 speech skill, while murder requires a speech of 100 to persuade the guard that it was an accident. Whose the victim? The speech skill required to convince the guard would be double if the victim is a member of the government, such as a guard or court wizard. ThaneHowever, it would be 50% less (potentially canceling out the aforementioned doubling of required speech skill) if you're a thane. This is in place of the vanilla thaneship, where you can just get away with one crime, but only one, no questions asked; that system is total BS! CircumstancesIt would also be 50% less (for a total 75% reduction) if there were circumstances that actually lend itself to accidents, such as if you were already in the middle of a fight that you didn't start (such as a dragon or vampire attack), if the goods you stole were right in front of a merchant, or if you were caught tresspassing five in-game minutes before the store opens, or after it closes (suggesting that you just barely missed it by accident), or if you opened up the lockpicking minigame but immediately exited out. Anyone else second this request? Edited May 17, 2015 by stebbinsd
Boombro
For dragon fights, use run for your lives, with it I never had a problem.
DeftheLyn
+1, even with run for your lives and when vampires attack, i always accidentally hit one of the guards, whether it's because of my shout, magic, bow, even the sweep attack, it makes all the guards hostile and then attacking me, if i can talk to the guards, i would say "look man, there's a dragon, and you keep hitting me ?! WTF with you ?!"

DrNewcenstein
There definitely needs to be something to force guards to ignore combat assaults against a common enemy such as vampires or dragons, especially if you're not a vampire. If you are a vampire, however, even if you're role-playing a Blade-type of thing, then you should get the penalty. It would also be a good idea if the news that you were Dragonborn spread as fast as the news that you killed someone 5 miles from town by accident, so none of the guards talk smack to you about anything relating to Dragonbornish activities, like Shouting (unless of course you blow fire, ice, or unrelenting force through the town even by accident). Hassling you over Aura Whisper is idiotic, to say the least. It's a whisper. No one heard it except the werewolves and the person standing right next to you. I find it amazing how so many people know about Aretino doing his Dark Brotherhood ritual, or the face-sculptor in the ratway in Riften, or that you bought the vacant house in town, but only 3 people know you're Dragonborn i.e. the only known living being with a rightful claim to the throne of the Empire. If you're playing a Nord, you should automatically be the front-runner for High King because of that.
