I think mods as a whole improve the experience depending of what you install. I could not imagine playing Oblivion now without things like Better Cities, DarnifiedUI, Natural Weather, Qarls Texture Pack, etc. I don't even mind the "mature" mods per say if it is kept tasteful. We are all adults here (well most of us) and concepts like sex, violence, etc. we see on a daily basis on TV anyway so why is it so taboo to see such things in a game. We see love scenes in James Bond films and extreme violence in war movies like Saving Private Ryan but the second it goes to game people giggle and point fingers like 8 year olds. All that being said in my opinion there is a point to where it is excessive. I believe when you get into the realm of make up caked women with absurd body proportions playing dress up in bondage and getting raped by animals you have ventured from mature to blatant and slightly revolting pornography.

People are however free to do as they please I am just speaking my mind. I personally like my game with an edge of mature or dark content but well rooted in that medieval european fantasy feel that is the Elder Scrolls. You want modern clothing and cosmetics, anime swords bigger than a man, little elf girls and tentacle monsters? Fine you download what you want and I will download what I want and we can both voice our opinions on the matter and argue till we are blue in the face it makes no difference.

Ianime swords bigger than a man

I don't see why people hate things like this so much. If your character is strong enough to hold several different suits of armor, several different types of weapons, and several books on their person without so much as a backpack, they can easily wield large swords.

I don't like them because people severely underestimate the weight of a sword. A sword the size of Cloud's from Final Fantasy 7 assuming it was made of Iron or Steel would weigh well over a thousand pounds, I also think they look absolutely absurd. I like practical and realistic looking weapons and armor in videogames that look like they would be viable in actual combat of the medieval era.

I have nothing against other that want to use such weapons in their games I am just not into modern Japanese and Korean culture like manga, anime and the way they portray character and weapons in videogames like Final Fantasy and the such. I will stick to my chainmail, claymores, katanas, and bows.

They look absurd, compared to green people with lower fangs jutting out of their teeth, various types of people with pointy ears, lizard-people, and the fact that all of them can shoot fireballs out of their hands?

Giant oversized swords don't fit in the TES world. Just because it's a fantasy world doesn't mean everything unrealistic can be justified.

Of course, that just goes for the vanilla game. I have no problem with it if people want to create anime'ish weapons, armor, races, as mods.

That goes for all mods. It doesn't matter if I like it or not. It's their game, if they like those things they should use them. Nobody is forcing me to download it.

Hm... so giant swords are not realistic, but shooting fireballs from your fingertips without burning your effing arm off and knocking out dragons by shouting some gibberish at them or resisting the blow of a dragon the size of a Mack truck is realistic? Isn't that selective realism?

Tanking hits from giant bull-people isn't unrealistic?

I'm not forcing you to, or saying you should, my only problem is that the mods get tons of undeserved hate.

They look absurd in comparison to Elder Scrolls which may have fantastical races but with the exception of magic follows the basic laws of physics not to mention they just don't feel the part in the Elder Scrolls games. What if instead of giant swords, boomerangs, and bows they used lightsabers and assault rifles in Inuyasha? You would say it looks absurd and doesn't feel the part and I would say,"Oh but assault rifles are realistic and who cares about lightsabers in a manga series with demons and time travel". See where I am going with this?

Nothing wrong with these mods existing but every form of media franchise and an established lore, artstyle, and feel to it and I am one of those people that likes staying true to that and I am not going to hound you for playing what you want I am just expressing my dislike.
