Mods for Skyrim might ruin the fun??

Exactly the point, Kazakovich, if this thread has done anything it has proved that for most people, mods add a certain extra something to the game that makes it more enjoyable for them, not less. What is or is not enjoyable varies from person to person.

I, for example, tend to play light armored types or unarmored mages, so I tend to be monumentally uninterested in some of the massive armor mods that are about, not least because a number of trips to the Royal Armories, old battle sites and taking part in both excavations and re-enactments has taught me that the tin can type armors were only ever worn on horseback, in the tiltyard, and not in real battles. Even in a re-enactment of the Charge Of The Light Brigade *Cannons to the right of them...* I only got a a cavalry sabre. But hey, some people like to dress up their toon in jousting type armor and don't realize that my sneaky little bird in the leather/mithril/fur would in actual fact have been able to have them tripped up and their throat slit before they could recover. They like wearing their tin cans, so they should be allowed to.

I go for nude mods because if I am really roleplaying, then despite a convent education I cannot quite see my toon bathing in their undies, or sleeping in them either.

Texture replacers may well be necessary, for example that lower class bedding in OB was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, (apart from the vanilla face textures) and if it is like that in Skyrim I am so getting Photoshop around that.

Okay now everyone have stated about the exact same thing over and over again, I am well aware that mods are optional and that not all mods are bad and that you don't like my personal opinion but I don't want to ruin for anyone else thats not my point. Maybe skyrim will be so good it won't need mod? And if you want oblivion in hentai style then fine but wouldn't it be easier to buy a japanese RPG from the beginning??

So what if there's a lot of mods you don't like... There's still a lot of mods that is awesome, and makes the game much better!

Without mods, Oblivion wouldn't have

Unique Landscape, open cities, a patch that fixes most of the bugs, amazing graphics, beautiful cities, far view, good looking faces and bodies, and much much more!

Saying mods would ruin the fun is kinda dumb... If you don't like Hentai mods or anything like that, why do you bother with them at all - EVERY mod is optional, and NO ONE is forcing you to use them!

I haven't actually seen anyone wanting Oblivion, or Skyrim for that matter, Hentai style, in this thread. I said that I dislike heavy armor, but that doesn't mean that my gals are going to be running around Skyrim in bikinis or fancy anime style gear. Far too cold for that. They are most likely to be seen in fur, leather, mithril or the Dark Brotherhood Armor (assuming it is available), all of which will probably need a retex for my taste, unless Bethesda have drastically improved their textures. Now if we could have a nice ranger type armor in game, or snow fur armor, that would be their gear of choice. Ranger armor in the more low lying areas and the snow fur gear in the snow bound mountains.

I can't see that Skyrim will be so good that it won't need mods. Remember that Bethesda are the company who gave us black horses that were purple *shudder* oh yes, I retexed Shadowmere as well!

maybe it's best to not add modding possebilities

And you lost me right there. The fact that Bethesda's games can be modded is the main reason I buy them. I can tweak gameplay and performance to my liking, add new weapons, armors, and quests... it adds infinite replayablility . Without this, I'd play once, maybe twice, get bored and never touch it again.

If you don't like the mods, that's fine. Don't use them. But don't suggest taking that from the rest of us.

Cant see how mods can be bad :S its just added contest.

Yes there is nude mods. Yes they are fun for like 10 min and then you move on.

But what about mods like Tamriel Rebuild, Rise of Telvanni, Mothership Zeta Crew and all the other quest mods that expand the game? Are those also bad? Those are imo a MUST when playing.

Cant see why Skyrim wont be able to profit from mods like that? That some like they barbie doll to look a specific way, well let them. I dont care. No one forces me to dl mods i dont want or dont like, just like no one forces me to play games i dont find funny.

But i do see a problem with the bodyreplacers. The game was rate think 12+ when it came out. A bit drugs and a few foul words nothing really bad. 2 weeks later they had to change it to 16+ because you could now dl nude mods. Ofc this hit the company. Cant remember the case completely but think that was the headlines back then. But it doesnt seem to have an effect in fallout 3/NV, so its properly not that big a prob.

If anything this should be about why modders dont get together and make more quests and guild expansions, instead mostly use time on armor and weapons. But also know it takes a lot of time to make stuff like that and hope they make it easyer for the modders to make that quest mods.

I thought Oblivion was rated M from the very first, IIRC, and that was nothing whatsoever to do with the nude mods but more to do with the DB Questline, and Fallout 3 certainly was. My main criterion for playing a game is not that it is playable by 12 year olds, in fact to me, that is a good reason NOT to play any particular game. I seriously doubt that either the possibility for nude mods would hit a company sales. And nor would violence - look how Black Ops is selling. I really don't see a problem with the body replacers - no-one forces anyone to download them.

A cracking quest mod, now I have to agree with you, always room for those once a game starts to get a bit older. But when the game first comes out, people will be focusing on the vanilla quests and deciding if the appearance of the game needs jazzing up. Quest mods will probably come a little later. Come to think of it though, I hope they don't do what they did with FO3 before Broken Steel came out and make it that your game ends at the end of the main quest, or we will need a mod for that in very short order!

Funny, because you don't seem to have understood anything we repeat and repeat.

I am well aware that mods are optional
So what's the problem?

that not all mods are bad
They're is no bad mod (well, rather there is no bad theme for a mod) because there is no rule to determine what a mod should be. You think you can judge objectively what does have an interest? Who do you think you are?

I don't want to ruin for anyone else thats not my point.
It seems to me that you want to spoil the pleasure of the kawai mod user at least.

that you don't like my personal opinion
The problem is your idea to potentially supress the TESCS without the slightest reason.

Maybe skyrim will be so good it won't need mod
You do it again. You're supposing there is an objective way to judge things. If it was true, it would be possible to make a game nearly perfect for everyone. Even if it was true, there still will be reason to make a mod: Total conversion to make a totally different game (a TES 5,5 by example), adding content (more quest, more guild. The better the game is, the more people will want additional content to continue to play). But it's false. Which means nearly everyone will have one to many things to reproach to the game.

And if you want oblivion in hentai style then fine but wouldn't it be easier to buy a japanese RPG from the beginning??

I like my female character to have pulpy curves. So for you, I should better go renting a porno thant use a body mod for oblivion? You really don't see the problem here? The point of making a mod for oblivion is to create something we want to see in oblivion. You really think liking its Oblivion characters with manga clothes is the same than play a japanese rpg xD?

...wouldn't it be easier to buy a...

It maybe the case that you have not joined this forum to learn anything, but the discussion is likely to help others understand more about what a mod is.

There are mods made because u want to have something in your game. The best mods may be made for this reason but it is the secondary reason.

The best mods are made because the creator wants to make something. Modding is an art and it is challenging and stimulating.

You cannot buy something that does not exist, and you cannot be challenged and stimulated by seeking the easy way.

when you buy some game content you will not feel the same as you would if you had created it.

Okay it's actually getting scary how offended some people got from my opinion so I'm just gonna say I take it all back I thought this could have been a fun interesting thread about the game feel without mods but people just say that I am wrong over an over again though I will leave it open for full discussion
