RedBattleDragon
Ok so I got the urge to play this game again, happens now and then like i'm sure it does for you all. My problem is my computer has gotten a few upgrades and now it seem everything about it wants to make sure I can't play the game, despite it should tank this s#*! like a champ. Now I have searched nearly all day for fixes and none work, But they do tell me a little bit about why its not working, its why i know my computer is "to advenced" for the game to want to work. At least thats how I understand it. Every time I start a new game I'll skip though the opening to the loading screen and after a few moments it crashes. This is my rig:GeForce GTX 750TiIntel Core i5-2300 2.80GHz8 Gig RamWindows 7 Home Fixes that I Have tried are as follows: In both Fallout.ini (in my documents) and Fallout_default.ini (in came folder) I changed bUseThreadedAI=0 to bUseThreadedAI=1 and added iNumHWTheads=2. To tell you the truth I'm not 100% sure what that did. The guy who suggested it made it sound like this made the game realise that there were multible cores on the computer, it seemed to work for the person who was having the same issue as I was so I tired it. It didn't work for me. But I left those in thinking it was only part of the fix I need. The next fix was that I'm using windows 7, and the game can't comunicate with windows 7 or something like that. So one suggestion was to get windows xp service pack 3 and tell the FNV exes to run under that and also run them as admin. So I did that and still no go. Other fixes I was told to use were mods which I intend to use to make the game more stable before I mod the rest of the game, but as far as I'm concerned the game should work first with out any mods installed. So can anyone help me out? I'm gonig to keep looknig on my own for a fix/s but I really would like some pro help at this.
2much4l1
Right click your game on Steam/properties/verify integrity of game cache. It will replace any missing files. One file missing should be OK. Those .ini changes are good to have, but if the above doesn't work then delete them both so the game will generate knew ones.
modder3434
Well you've already done about 80% of what I'd recommend usually, but if you've played and modded this game before then make sure not one single scrap of code, data, or plugins remains from the old install. If you do that and do it correctly it should trick you pc in thinking its never installed it before so you get a fresh install in all sense of the word. However I'm sure there is some lingering mod or something that the game can't process which causes the crash. also of note: about the Windows pack XP, I have to do that for New Vegas on my game, make sure that all the new vegas applications (launcher, game etc ) is set to compatiblity mode windows service pack 3 XP and set to run as administrator.
