  1. Are these files gone? From you scripts folder: 1FPV.pex From your SKSE/Plugins folder: FirstPersonPlugin.dll and FirstPerson.text The only other thing I can think of is maybe a mod manager issue.
  2. Steam cloud backs up your saves, but I think some mods can hook into it. I had a similar problem that was solved by disabling Steam cloud.
  3. Go to your mods tab and look for those patches. They might have a red drag icon. Click the lightning bolt to the right and set rules for the conflicts. They're probably just texture conflicts that you can ignore, but Vortex likes things nice and tidy.
  4. Okay so maybe you do have a point in drag/drop / manual ordering is redundant, and maybe I am clinging to old ways (I've been using NMM since oldrim was the new, hot thing and yes I do feel more in control when I sort things myself), and I'm not sure if you were serious with this bit or not but I feel like it would help a lot to have something like this (since what I originally asked for is clearly a no-go). Knowing why it's in the place it is would also help make decisions when setting up rules, and it'd help people like me feel more comfortable with the software (which is most likely a very low priority but just talking as a user here). For example I have one mod in SSE that insists on being below everything, including my bashed patch, and I got no idea why, all I know is that traditionally nothing goes below the batched patch so I've been trying to set up rules to make the batched patch go below the mod. Am I breaking things when trying to order things like that? I don't know. I also don't know why vortex is so insistent on having the mod at the end of the load order. So yhea, if manual sorting isn't going to happen ever, a way to get more information about why vrotex did what it did would be A+. I've tried that, but it means setting a priority 1 on the 'special' mod and priority 2 on all the mods I want to move below it. It works, but it's tedious. A much simpler solution (for me) is to keep NMM open and manually drag-and-drop the plugin order in that. Vortex sees the changes immediately. Best of both worlds :D Here's the thread: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6355031-a-few-tips-from-the-focus-group/page-4
  5. Not all your pearls were wasted, thanks again for the UI tip. If my game ever breaks I will surely remember your sage advice,"YOU did it wrong".
  6. How many mods above the 100 would I have to install before I can be considered "brave enough"? Are you asking for courage, fellow 1st world citizen, or compliance?
  7. Never felt the need to delete everything. Last time I had a CTD was because I assumed SKSE automatically set up the memory patch. All the scenarios you are describing are foreign to me. I'm glad you enjoy Vortex so much. Be happy, Vortex has won the Nexus mod manager title and will be supported for the foreseeable future.
  8. With the NMM you may be asked to choose conflict winners and losers when installing a mod. When asked I command NMM to overwrite, typically "yes to all", and 2 seconds later voila! no more conflicts. Nothing is nagging you about setting rules because your effing rule has already been followed by the humble NMM. I consider this optimal mod manager behavior. Vortex lacks this behavior ergo it finds issues. So my optimal Vortex would mimic NMM behavior and yes I will take a built in LOOT like feature too. I like your UI ideas and Holy Cow the compact UI should be the default. Once I get the color scheme set i will have to say good job Vortex!
  9. Well, one of those threads is from 2012, and the other thread is from 2018, but the 'solution' for the 2018 thread is a link to the 2012 thread, which was for NMM version 0.14.1 and has nothing to do with the latest version. Why you even brought it up is a mystery. The reason I thought you hadn't done your research is because you said this Anyway, I'm starting to feel trolled, so I'll leave the thread now. Wait! You never answered my question on how you would resolve my dialogue conflict.
  10. Yes you can, just click on the GITHUB button. I really wish you'd research things before making incorrect claims What makes you think I haven't downloaded that? What makes you think I haven't done any research? Are you aware there is now a 0.65.11? Here's a link:https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager/releases Here's a thread I read through: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/537782-cant-log-in-to-nexus-mod-manager/ And another: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6315931-nexus-mod-manager-unable-to-log-in-wrong-user-name-and-password/ Thanks for trying to help though.
  11. @1ae0bfb8 To say another way, in the screenshot Vortex is notifying me about conflicts with texture mods which I have already resolved to my satisfaction. Since Vortex is kind enough to let me deploy mods with these texture conflicts i have chosen to forego the tedium of making Vortex shut the hell up.... Not difficult, tedious. I feel like the word sub-optimal is coming between us. Thanks for the compact UI tip. Sounds like it might mitigate one of my issues with Vortex. I'll click around and see if I can get it implemented. I am seriously not piling on. I have used Vortex and strongly disagree with its design and especially with how intrusive it is because of the added features, which I never needed before. Some may say, 'Go back to the NMM then!" Ha! The jokes on... me! I love the NMM, but can no longer download from site with it. I dislike Vortex, but I know how to use it and it downloads from site like a champ. Although we disagree about Vortex I must say that I admire all the help every one in this thread provides to this forum. Thank you 1ae0bfb8 for a useful post and I'll take your advice and play around with Vortex a little more.
  12. You're obviously not understanding me, because I'm not talking about sorting PLUGINS, Vortex does that automatically, and there's no need to manually sort them anymore. I'm talking about sorting MODS on the mods tab, where the REAL conflicts take place. Only Vortex (MO and MO2, all by the same author) allow you to sort BSA, BA2, Archives, Texture and Mesh files That's something that NMM simply cannot do. I have no need to spend up to 30 seconds manually sorting PLUGINS, because it's unnecessary, simple as that. Interesting. So how would you have resolved my dialogue conflict?
  13. Oh, I'm sorry I thought you doubted my experience with Vortex. Texture mod conflicts that are already resolved to my satisfaction, but trying to tell Vortex that is a pain. Pro tip, click the bell to make it go away until the next time you open Vortex. Hmm, I won't say that the Vortex UI is suboptimal and bloated, but I will say that the NMM UI is much leaner and easier to navigate. What changes to the Vortex UI would you make? None? :)
  14. My point is, you have NO IDEA if you have no conflicts by using NMM, the only way to see conflicts when using NMM is to use Xedit. NMM does not notify you of any conflicts with ESPs, and it surely doesn't notify you of Conflicts with BSAs, BA2s etc like Vortex does and can. The only time NMM will notify you of any conflicts is Texture and Mesh conflicts and that's a hard overwrite of files, while Vortex can do that, except instead of having to uninstall and reinstall the conflicting mods, Vortex will automatically restore and overwrite the files without uninstalling and reinstalling the mods. You keep arguing for NMM, which means you are happy with not knowing what conflicts your load order has. Also, it takes me just seconds to manage my load order in Vortex, if you've installed 100 mods for FONV with Vortex, you'd already know how easy it is to manage your load order (Provided you read the built in knowledge base and watched the built in tutorials) The reason you're arguing for manual load ordering is because you haven't properly learned Vortex, once you do, you'll realize how pointless and difficult manual load ordering is. I was exactly like you, there's a 30+ long page thread where I am arguing for Manual Load Ordering, until I finally realized how Vortex does things, and I stopped fighting against it, and started working with it. Can you please stop questioning my experience with Vortex. I'm not disagreeing with your description of how Vortex works. If you're trying to say that rules and groups are better than a 30 second manual manipulation as featured in NMM I disagree. Thank you for your informative post.
  15. And a ton of conflicts, ESPs, in the wrong order etc, while the user is blissfully unaware of the problems. Just because it's fast, doesn't mean it's correct. If you mean DOWNLOAD a mod "With the NMM you can highlight the mod then just click it down to wherever you want" If you double click a mod on the mods tab, it will open a window on the right and you can click on "Visit on Nexusmods .com" I was referring to manually changing the load order with NMM. Never had a problem with NMM that wasn't user error or couldn't be fixed with NMM's manual load order feature. 99% of the time LOOT made no adjustments to the NMM load order.
  16. . . . now you don't. How do you say "self-contradictory?" Are saying Vortex rule based ordering does not require adjusting once in awhile?
  17. Wow. "Duplicitous". Seriously? Your devotion to Vortex is noted and I regret that frustration with disagreement has risen so high. I have used Vortex to install over 100 mods to FNV... Found a dialogue conflict. With the NMM you can highlight the mod then just click it down to wherever you want. 30 seconds? No rules. No groups. Very limited forced user behavior. I certainly do not want to add even more rules to Vortex and since the dev has said manual manipulation of load order is no go, rules and groups it is for Vortex users. The duplicity here is your conclusion that Vortex is 'suboptimal'. This conclusion is not based on any real world evidence. It is opinion that is without foundation. It's added to your statement to give you a contrarian position that suberts any meaningful attempt to stay on topic. You claim to have added 100 mods to FONV, good. You found at least one issue. You then claim it is easier to drag/drop the conflicting mods. Great. Vortex doesn't have that facility built in, instead it gives you the far superior option to create a rule to load one mod before/after another. It also allows you to drill down and load the conflicting files before/after each other should you wish. As this rule is now part of Vortex, you never need to worry about it again. No drag/drop facility that I know of, gives me that level of control and management. Is it suboptimal? No, it's a different way of achieving same thing. Having used both methods I prefer Vortex because it gives me a lot of built in security. If I mess up, I can revert with ease without having to ponder what mods need to be removed and redeployed manually. I think you're good at using words, but you're not so good at using them correctly. Suboptimal? No. Bloatware? No. Basically, you are not ordered or commanded to use Vortex. You can use NMM, MO or just do it manually yourself should you wish. It's entierly your call, but if you're going to add to a discussion on how to make a very good mod manager even better, you need to come up with some really good arguments, and less of the fallacies. Lol! Disagreement is duplicitous. Got it.

  19. Bloatware=Unwanted software. Feel free to post the entire definition if you like. Do you agree with my other points?
  20. NMM had good rule based ordering and manual ordering. Once you've found the conflict nothing is easier or faster than adjusting your load order manually. The fact that this has been debated forever would suggest that current Vortex design is suboptimal. Trying to add XEdit functionality is just bloatware.
  21. This thread probably applies to DA2 too: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7168151-vortex-breaking-dao-ultimate-edition-origins-version/ I haven't modded DA2, but I've modded DAO by just following the mod authors manual install instructions.
