If the world were a village

If the world were a village, there would be:

59 Asians

14 Africans

12 Europeans

14 Americans (North, south, and central)

1 from the South Pacific

49 of them would be women,

The other 51 would be men

30 would be children

70 would be adults

(For the rules I didn't include religion; you'll need to look that up yourself)

15 of the 70 adults can't read

only one of them has a college degree

Of all the wealth, six people would own 59%

20 people consume 80% of the villages total energy

80 people share the remaining 20%

In one year, one villager will die

In one year, two babies will be born

Only seven people have access to a computer and or not counting the internet

20 people are undernurished

1 is dying of starvation

15 people are overweight

So as you can see, we as individuals, all possessing a computer as the lucky seven opposed to the unlucky ninty three, should be grateful for all it is that we have. We take for granted everyday over the simple things that not even a child in other parts of the world, even in the richest, can afford to have. If the world were a village of 100, we'd see just how thankful we should be.

Just a little interesting thing I learned in math class today, thought it would help make other people see our world in a different light.

Well, to be honest, Australians would probably get a leg or so.

Ah-hah! Did the math. According to the most recent census from Australia.. 0.3172770480064584 of a person in there is Australian.
