Fallout 4 Graphics Controversy.

Has anyone answering this post ever played Rage (the game by Bethesda and ID)?

The game was a project to run the Creation Engine being developed by ID for Bethesda slated for final primary release and the underlying engine for Fallout 4. Well, the graphics are on par with Rage for look and feel, but lightening and particle systems have definitely been refined. The graphics you all saw in the trailers are already possible with the Creation Engine and based on Rage gameplay very smooth even on the Xbox 360 - never hung or crashed. The audio and video is top-notch, but go figure ID is contracted by Bethesda to make it awesome and ID is fully capable of doing just that.

As far as the graphics in the video revealers - there will be a loss of detail when transcoding actual video game capture to video file formats for the web even in HD. This is fact and I have experienced this first hand in the past, so expect the best as far as graphics & audio. Most of the content presented at the E3 presentations seems to orbit Microsoft and Bethesda joint announcements and so the content is more than likely Xbox centric, but the PC version will use the same engine and be far more upward scalable for graphics, effects and audio. Even if Bethesda wanted to keep the PC version at the Xbox level of detail someone would come along and mod a work-around anyway.

The use of cryogenic stasis containment and even some of the cut-scene emergence material looks almost identical to the story back-drop and opening visuals of Rage. Other than seeing some reuse of Rage content the game looks fairly original and promising, but only the release and time will tell.

Don't get your panties in a wad over the graphics in the trailer. The trailer was probably done some months ago and is more than likely based on the Xbox graphics if it is even based on actual game graphics at all. Not at all what you are going to see on your PC. How about accepting that the trailer is advertising, and like most advertising is idealized for a certain demographic. It has been 'massaged' by graphic artists and been through a dozen approvals by various vice presidents in charge of vice and advice. Each of whom had their own ideas of what it should and should not be. And none of what it really is. On the other hand, as a marketing tool it has worked very well - it has generated a lot of hype and a lot of controversy, which is all good for their pre-release sales.

Just accept it for what it is - advertising designed to get your hopes up and get you to throw money at Beth.
