Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSWITH MAGGIE AND WEN He awoke from the dream to find Maggie and Wen waiting on the bed next to his. He had stripped down to a light jumpsuit and his hands and head were visibly shifting constantly as if in a constant pattern of change. The two young women seemed to be avid to speak to him. They were in a small allocated apartment for himself and the two women. Space was at a premium in the city thanks to an influx of refugees fleeing from an increase in local threats but not just the activities of the Shadowthing. The room was rather basically fitted, furnished and decorated. Graharg sighed and turned his head to look at them though in truth he did not need to for he tended to see everything around himself. “So the report was given to you. I was faking not knowing the truth about Cyborgia so that I could attract the Shadowthing into a trap. The Shadowthing is our code name for the monstrous evil that has been causing relatively small but persistent death and destruction again all in this area. There are those like myself but they are deep in restorative sleep now because we attacked the Shadowthing as a group. While we did it much damage, it knocked down most of us. It has amazing power but also some odd weaknesses.” Maggie nodded. “UnityFree is linked to you and you exist on the edge of UnityFree.” At that he nodded and slowly sat up. “As I am linked to Cyborgia and faked killing those Cyborgia units in the grenade caused smoke with some difficulty. I even convinced my own mind that it really happened. The ones that really looked dead were in fact fakes being robots with synthoflesh and lots of fake blood.” Maggie spoke again. “In the Bubblecities of that other Alternate Earth that is ruled by World President Sebastian Sauron, the thing that people fear is a dark force that seems to be the same as the one you are dealing with now. The OmniResistance there thinks that the dark force is linked strongly to World President Sebastian Sauron somehow. World President Sebastian Sauron has great power in the psychic and even magical fashion, if one can call it that.” “Psionics.” Graharg nodded. “Psionics of many shared subdivisions. Empathic telepathy, telekinesis, clairvoyance, precognition, empathy and others. Also psymagic and elementrisis. Except that, because of his dark nature, many of the arts would be closed to him while others would be stronger for him. In reverse many of the arts are closed to me and others are stronger for me.” A small cybkey jumped up onto the bed next to Graharg and then darted up onto his shoulder where he made himself comfortable. Graharg reached up and scratched the belly of the cyborg monkey that made noises of pleasure. Wen then spoke as she sat cross legged on the other bed. “Quin, Colin, Wade, Rem, Maxman and Diana are being sent here to this city. They should be here in a couple of days. UnityFree wants to do some cloning experimentation on us.” Maggie nodded. “It turns out that we clones are more intelligent than those we were cloned from and more enhanced in many ways. We think there is a link between OmniResistance and UnityFree, that OmniResistance is actually a form of Unity.” “Unity uses many clones but in a very careful manner.” Graharg nodded again as if to his own thoughts more than to those around himself. “It is too bad that others have not shown the same constraints. In the so called Golden Age the use of cloning, like so much else, got out of hand. Greed led to over cloning of clone generations and the creation of unstable and often dangerous semiclones. Cloning crimes were numerous and too often badly carried out. The Red Plague partly rose because of the misuse of cloning technologies.” Wen frowned softly. “You were World President James Patriot Jackson so why did you not do anything?” He shrugged. “I was caught up in my own power struggles and by the time the Patriot Presidium was able to fully focus on that and other stupidities of the same kind, it was too late. The Red Plague was sweeping across the world. The FEV, the Forced Evolutionary Virus, was on the loose. The Androidia Revolution had begun in Europe. The vatuzombies were unleashed on Central Africa. They were but part of what was going wrong. Looking back on it now, it is obvious I was manipulated as were many others but at the time I was too involved in surviving and fighting to see that. Also I was betrayed by three people I assumed I could trust. Also I was a fool in many ways.” “We need and want you to make us pregnant for the sake of preserving your genetic inheritance for what will be our people. It should be fun.” Maggie said as she began to take her shoes off. “We hope you are willing.” Graharg sensed something was happening here far more than just a desire for sexual pleasure. He nodded. “Very good. I am always willing to do my duty.” Wen smiled and also started to undress. Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSON THE HUNT FOR THE SHADOWTHING, YET AGAIN Wen and Maggie, the slider clones, remained in Alpha-Three where they would be allocated a larger place to live with the other six clones. Especially now that they knew their real nature, the eight clones felt more comfortable being with each other. Graharg set out on the hunt for the Shadowthing, yet again. This time three UnityForce soldier scouts and three Cyborgia units. These last were three cybdogs. The mission was more of drive to find clues, to find some kind of base that the Shadowthing might be using, than it was a hunt for the actual Shadowthing. They headed for Hubtown but indirectly so for firstly he wanted to visit the antiCyborgia rebel base he had spoken to the slider clones of before. The rebels were not genuine freedom fighters but were mercenaries serving the PUP, the People’s Union of Peoples, because Cyborgia’s growth had cut into PUP’s slavery, bandit and other local criminal operations. The People’s Freedom Army was what they called themselves, the PFA, but most folks called them the People’s False Ally. Graharg wished to go there, to the very edges of the fair sized base, so as to buy information off a man called One Eye Hogan. Hogan had two eyes and never explained how he had gained his name. Hogan hated the PUP but his criminality caused him to rightfully fear the spreading power of the FUP, Cyborgia and UnityFree. They got on a working subway monotrain run by the MonolineMelbanors. Graharg had helped them once in a vital fashion and his group got free passage but he paid for the passage of some refugees, including their belongings and animals. The train moved quick but nowhere as quickly as it would have done before Doomsday; conditions were just too dangerous for that to happen. The cybdogs looked like normal hounds and they were in the train compartment with himself and the UnityForce, the combined emergency defence force of UnityFree, were well disguised as typical Melbourne Wastelanders. They shared the compartment with some refugees who had only a few belongings. Graharg wore a false appearance now and no power armour. He was basically his old self, a young man with dark blonde hair and freckles, an Irish Australian, but he wore fleximetallic body-armour, leathers and carried a standard MAR16A3 autorifle that fired the fairly common 5.5mm calibre bullet and 30mm grenade-shells. The built-in grenade-launcher could also fire special 30mm shotshells. The UnityForce scouts had the same type of weapon. Graharg carved small blocks of wood into trinkets, toys and small useful things for the refugees. He enjoyed doing it and the others watching his hand and special multitool moving with graceful, skilful speed with its various attachments. So he made figurines, baby dolls, small wooden tools, chess pieces and other items. Whispers were running strong that the Melbanor gangers had made a formal agreement of some kind with the Free Union of People, a mutual aid and defence treaty most likely. The whispers continued with the idea that Cyborgia had approached the FUP with a similar idea and that the FUP Leadership Senate was seriously considering the idea. Not just the Shadowthing’s activities had been causing trouble but also the appearance of such forces as the TekGuards and Enclaven Troopers. There were also troubling whispers of the Warlord Ranga Stratton and his well experienced and highly trained Stratguard Mercenaries coming to serve the PUP. People were wondering where the PUP had suddenly gained many resources from to build up its own military and other forces along with hiring many mercenaries. Just what was the PUP up to? Graharg was very concerned about Warlord Ranga Stratton for not only was the man a cunning, sadistic, power hungry monster but he was an immortal who was over two hundred years old. Stratton hated Graharg because they had fought each other in battle as opposing commanders; Graharg had used the Warlord’s own arrogant assumptions against him, smashing him in the process. Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSSHADOWTHING ATTACK AND MESSAGE The whole monotrain shuddered even as the darkness thing struck at its side. Guards fired off bullets, shotgun shells and even laser beams at it. Graharg went to the side of the train where the attack was coming from even as the UnityForce scouts began firing special bullets at the Shadowthing. As some people screamed in fear, men amongst them, from a pouch he took a softly glowing sphere of yellow-white light and then hurled it at what looked like a swirling fog thing of purple black centred black fog. Emergency lights in the tunnel seemed to flicker as the Shadowthing hid them briefly. A radroach fled in reasonable terror, scuttling madly along the side of the same tunnel as did other critters. The Shadowthing screamed inhumanly in agony and exotic emotions. It pulled back away from the train and even as it did, it split into two Shadowthings. One of the Shadowthings, smaller and weaker than the other, turned and fled off into the Undercity. The bigger one kept on fighting. Graharg cursed softly for now he knew how the Shadowthing had survived the big attack launched by himself and those like himself. Others had also supposedly destroyed the Shadowthing only to have it appear again about a week later to attack somebody else. Graharg curled another solar elemental grenade, there was another big flash of light, and the Shadowthing died even as it was charging at the train again. Machinegun fired bullets ripped into it and powerful lamps shown beams of intense light into it. A flare grenade exploded more light into it. Then that Shadowthing was destroyed but the other Shadowthing had escaped safely. The message from the Shadowthing was scrawled across the outside of the train, across armour plating, in ancient language of strange symbols and small picturegrams. Graharg read it for what it was, a combination of threat and challenge, along with promises that it was about to unleash new forces of death, destruction and chaos upon the ruined city of Melbourne. Graharg removed the message in his own special fashion and the monotrain continued on its way to a safe occupied station settlement where Graharg’s group would get off. Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSSEEKING A LOST PATROL The group left the monotrain, being dropped off at a small outpost spot guarded by a single platoon of Free Union of Peoples Defence Force conscripts. The FUPDF tended to be mostly conscripts with only a relatively small core of professionals. They also tended to be poorly paid, trained and equipped but things had improved since Graharg and others had begun to assist them. The whole FUP gained important support from the Graharg Foundation on a monthly basis but in turn gained some important resources such as information, free travel on FUP transportation and FUP support in other ways. The platoon was nervous but for good reasons. A patrol had failed to return to the outpost even though trouble was not expected. The FUP and the fake rebels rarely attacked each other, preferring to avoid trouble and being killed. Neither the FUP conscripts or the PUP mercenaries had any heart for fighting. The Shadowthing had never struck at that area in the past and the soldiers had grown complacent. Graharg looked over the route plan for the patrol and then set out, with his six companions, to try to find out what had happened to them. It was a matter of going through large glistening greasy surfaced pipes that sometimes flowed partly with strange bio-oil. The throbbing of still active machinery could be felt through the walls of the series of interlinked pipes. A great deal of machinery seemed to be fully or mostly functional in the deeper levels of the city but it was almost impossible, if not impossible, to get to many of them. Graharg had been down there, to some parts of the Deepcity, but he the great majority people did not even know that, let alone what he had experienced down there. There was a large secret organization known as the DeepcityGuardians who tried to stop people going down there for very good reasons. The Graharg Foundation helped to fund that also. They left the greasy pipes behind themselves and paced quietly through large sewer tunnels by walking on catwalks above flowing light brown storm water. It was probably raining in the Overcity for it often did so, especially in that time of year. One of the oddities of the plan of the Triplecity had been that the sewerage network was designed for a population many times that of the area it was supposed to serve. A small crocodile swam past them and then two more. Graharg sensed they were fleeing from something and not long after that rats, radroaches and other creatures began to dart along the catwalk. The small flow became a thick flow and then ended, abruptly. The muffled sound of guns firing came to them and then they were running towards the scene of trouble. Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSA NEW THREAT? What they found was a ragged group, a mixture of FUPDF soldiers, PUP mercenaries and others that had joined in for survival sakes, including some tribals. Behind the fighters with their guns and even crossbows, were those who could not fight. Some of these acted as reloaders. There were some wounded fighters amongst them. The defenders were cornered, literally, in the corner of a huge metallic chamber with great big pipes running horizontally or vertically along every wall. The attackers were something new to Graharg. They were cyborgs, yes, but cyborgs linked with dead flesh reanimated in some horrific fashion. Some were whole bodies, some were made up of parts of bodies. While many were human or part human, there were monster and animal parts along with robotic parts. Yes, robotic parts, but also a kind of glistening metallic fleshy substance that made up much of these creatures, these necroborgs as they were come to be known. The unnatural flesh substance was coloured in black-purple patterning. Graharg ‘sensed’ something unnatural about these things, something undead, and yet these were what would be classified only as ‘lesser undeath’ for they did not try to drain the life energies around them as ‘greater undeath’ would have done. They came screaming, chanting, roaring, howling and with claws, fangs, pincers, strange shaped blades, flamers, rocket-guns and many other weapons both built into them and held separately. But the necroborgs were not alone. With them came fleshy metallic humanoids of squat appearance, sexless, of various sizes that came with both built-in retractable weapons and held weapons. These were to be called necronoids in the future. The fleshy metallic substance was reanimated cloned flesh of a genetically engineered type and was black-purple like that of the necroborgs. Graharg was disturbed because he not only knew of the reanimated metallic flesh substance, he had helped invent it on his own Alternate Earth. He had named it necroflesh. He had tried very hard to track down and destroy all of his dark inventions but in the chaos of the time had never been certain of how successful his efforts had been. He opened a special metallic pouch and, taking out a handful of small metallic silvery, golden and copperish balls out, he hurled them towards the attacking Necrotronic forces. Each sphere transformed, expanding out to become one three metre long golden dragon, two double metre long silver dragons or three one metre long copper dragons depending upon the colour of the sphere. With impressive speed, agility and power these temporary existing phasedragons attacked with very hard, sharp fangs, claws and tail-barbs along with impressive physical power and pulseflamers or pulselasers. Each had both pulsebeam type weapons but only used one at a time. The UnityForce scouts held hands in a triangle formation and crouched. Seconds later a UnityForce trooper in power armour appeared in the middle of the triangle. Again and again this happened until a single platoon was spread out, crouched and firing tripleguns, gattling-lasers or 64cc pulselasers. Unity linked to Unity could teleport their own with some ease but the scouts were now too tired to receive any more reinforcements; they would rest. The cybdogs crouched close to Graharg and did nothing for he would not have them die for no useful purpose. These monsters were too powerful for these particular cybdogs that had no heavy cyborg armour or guns and would have even overwhelmed three standard, non stealth cybdogs. The battle raged. Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSA BATTLE MOST SAVAGE It was soon becoming a major battle as UnityFree teleported in new units and Cyborgia reinforcements began to arrive. Chopshots came surging in light power armour and carrying bladeguns that they used with amazing skill, having both energy blades and pulseguns. The enemy swarmed into the great chamber and now necroflesh globes with many tentacles came floating through the air, each tentacle being either a weapon ending in a slicing, stabbing blade, a manipulator strangler or a sensor-detector ending in a globular eye. The necroglobes also carried weapons such as rocket-guns or flamers. The battle was defensive for Graharg’s side, at first. Rocket-bullets, bullets, shells, shotgun shells, explosive tipped crossbow bolts, laser beams and much else filled the air from both the entrenched defenders and the swarms of attackers. Creatures screamed, people fell, explosions flashed, shrapnel flew and still the enemy kept coming. Graharg himself fired off his own weapon of choice, being a powerful pulselaser weapon with ultraviolet power that made necroflesh explode and burn away with amazing speed. His pulsebeams blasted away entire platoons of necroglobes, necronoids and necroborgs. The phasedragons had done terrible damage to the enemy when they had flown amongst the monsters, ripping them apart and burning them but they were gone now back to their own dimensional realm. Almost abruptly, the enemy stopped coming and the defenders finished off those on the battlefield, burning anything and everything of the unnaturalness. Normal items used by the enemy were taken to be cleansed and then recycled. Graharg healed many of the defenders and saved many lives, also saving many from being maimed or handicapped for life. Graharg had sensed the subtle but powerful presence and influence behind the Necrotronic forces of the Shadowthing and yet he also glimpsed a powerful far more ancient, deadly and alien than that of the Shadowthing. This other force was of the greater undeath trying to get through the Transdimensional Barrier of Life. The Barrier of Life was weakened on that Alternate Earth thanks to Doomsday but was still very strong. Yet he was concerned for he ‘sensed’ that the ancient evil of undeath had found another way through and was trying to exploit it. Maharg67
BACKGROUNDAUSTRALIAN CIVIL WAR Bloody civil war fought in Australia between pro and anti New World Order factions. Focused heavily on the Triplecity and other major cities plus some areas of rural Australia. Well known for use of cyborg technologies and such as power armour soldiers, antigrav boosted vertibirds and heavy fast hover armour. Yet much of the fighting was dangerous, slow and costly urban warfare fought from house to house, street to street but also in the Undercity. Anti NWO factions lost hold of Triplecity but had control of other areas during the official stalemate of the Treaty when Doomsday took place. http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/tt9/Dragonpen61/Forum%20Additives/ES01_part_01_by_duster132-1-1.jpg Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSAFTER THE BATTLE Graharg examined some samples of necroflesh using a portable analyser and too soon confirmed, far frin his liking, that it was almost identical to his own invention. Yet he knew it could easily have been the invention of his counter part from another Alternate Earth, being one World President Sebastian Sauron, who had the same inventive genius as himself. Then what of the ancient evil of undeath that he had ‘sensed’? Perhaps the real answers lay not on that Alternate Earth #0123456789 but on AltEarth #0123456780. Yet he had no desire to travel to another AltEarth when he had enough to do on this one and when such transdimensional travels had their own special dangers for one such as himself. The question was why had the enemy spent so many forces striking at what he would consider to be a not very important target? One possible answer was that both the Shadowthing and the ancient evil of undeath had wanted to observe him in action. To do so would be to gain advantage but would they be willing to expend so many of their cannon fodder to do so; he had no doubt that they would. Yet he was not so egotistical to assume that it was just about him and so he investigated the others in the chamber. He found, amongst the refugees, nine year old triplets with their parents and siblings plus some others with them, both family and friends. All had above average psychic and psionic ability but the triplets were way above the others and also had other enhanced abilities. It became important that he secure the safety of the triplets but he had no desire to either take them from their people or to highlight them as the ones he was saving. With the assistance of UnityMind he opened a teleport gateway to Hubtown, a tricky and energy draining process, and took everybody there from the chamber. Even the Cyborgia units came along. Graharg dropped behind some small glowing spheres even as he was the last one to step through the teleport gateway, towards a part of Hubtown that could be seen in a translucent fashion through the shimmering gateway energies. He was paying out heavy on very special resources but he felt it was more than worth the price to do so. Soon after the teleport gateway vanished with a brief sparkling shimmer effect, there stood one youthful man, two youthful women, three nhulls, a dog, an eagle, a monkey, three eyebots and a bigger globebot. Except none were what they seemed to be. The man, women and nhulls (sexless humans) wore what looked like light power armour. The thirteen of them began to try to find traces of where the Necrotronica creatures had come from, hoping to trace them back to a source point. Soon they were following a light trail of exotic energies and more normal tracks. It was no coincidence that the humans, even the nhulls, had features common to a youthful looking Graharg; these features showed through the now clear visors of their helmets. They were soon following a great tunnel that had been built for and used by massive constructor robots that had built much of the city, especially the Undercity and the mysterious Deepcity that many did not even know existed. The tunnel went for a long way and gently sloped downwards deep into the city depths. Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
