Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSGRATARG AND WOZZLES Gratarg moved with amazing speed and agility through the forest close to the shoreline of the NeoAmazon River. He was close to the Earthen Isles where the BetaThirteen were positioned and had alerted them that he was in the area but no more than that. They had informed him that a strange and concerning corruption had spread amongst officials on the islands, both local and federal; there was a good chance that the High Sheriff herself was one of the corrupt ones. Gratarg was animal, was cyborg, was sleek fur and amphibious climbing deadliness and was more than that. Gratarg smelt and sensed wozzles all around him as he darted amongst a village of hidden treehuts and treeplatforms. He did not expect to halt but then he was doing so, was suddenly halted, was crouched warily for something was very wrong. Wozzle blood and fear! He smelt the first and sensed the second. Then he saw it, black smoke broiling through the forest with a blacker darkness inside it but now it also showed blood red flickering energies. The Shadowthing it was not for this was smaller and less powerful in many ways and yet it had new threats of its own. A shadowflamer was its name and behind the first came another, then another. Zipdarts started flying from treetops as wozzle warriors and their wazzle cousins, more warlike but less intelligent, began to shoot at the enemy. The zipdarts exploded upon impact with the shadowy creatures. Arrows flew also with glowing tips and when they exploded, they did so with more power and the shadowflamers fragmented with real damage and pain of an alien nature. Gratarg opened his great jaws and from his mouth shot a pulsebeam of yellow-white energies. The pulsebeam crashed into a shadowflamer and it perished with an alien scream of rage and agony. A second shadowflamer turned and hurled a fireball at Gratarg but the pulsebeam swept it out of existence and then destroyed the entity. The wozzles and wazzles destroyed the other shadowflamer. Furry, adorable wozzles gathered around him, as did fewer wazzles that were wirier and had natural armour plating in parts. They brought the recently killed and the wounded for Gratarg to work with for they knew of him, of course. The Wozzledom was of group mentality and the wazzles, wezzles, wizzles, wuzzles and others shared in that group mentality. Despite his best efforts, the Wozzledom had noted his progress through the rainforests, which did not surprise him at all. The Light brought the dead back to life, this time, and healed the burned with the assistance of Graharg and some wozzle healers. Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSGRATARG AND A WOZZLE MATRIARCH Later Gratarg crouched lying on a treeplatform high above the ground and a wozzle matriarch sat cross legged next to him. She spoke in the language of the GaiaTongo, the Alliance of the Goddess Mother of Nature. “Wozzles can smell the ones you speak about. They act like normal humans and some other beings but they are different. There is something unnatural about them. Yet many of them have lived good lives and have done good for others. Can they be saved?” “Gramarg has begun work on it and Gravarg is awakening to assist her. Gravarg is a great scientist almost as good in some ways as Graharg himself. We hope to find a way to save them.” Gratarg snorted softly. “If I capture some of them, then I could study them.” The wozzle nodded in the way of her people, that is with an odd wavy pattern to it. “We can help you do that. What of this Mr Smith that you are chasing? We can help you find him but we fear he is too powerful for us.” “I will train and equip you to deal with Mr Smithdom if you are forced to do so.” Gratarg responded. “At least enough to drive him off. The same goes for the Shadowthings and for its various monsters such as those shadowflamers.” The wozzle matriarch was pleased at this. After a pause she spoke again. “Unity has been amongst wozzles and others like us for a very long time, long before we came to be in SanctuaryClave because our own worlds were destroyed in the Eternal War. SanctuaryClave was less peaceful then and then you and those like you came; you defeated the ChaosLords and their Warlords. You imposed order upon SanctuaryClave but you then imposed a fair form of democracy. We appreciate this and always have done so.” But then she sighed. “But something is deeply wrong deep inside SanctuaryClave.” Gratarg nodded his large, sleekly furred head. “We know! We have sensed this and we have picked up on your concerns and the concerns of others. We have come to suspect that the deep wrongness of SanctuaryClave is linked to a deep wrongness in our home Alternate Earth.” Suddenly Gratarg stopped and focused his thinking. Then he spoke again. “Yes, I think we may have gotten something very wrong. World President Sebastian Sauron may not be after something on AltEarth #0123456789 after all but something here in SanctuaryClave that is anchored to that Alternate Earth. This would explain why the Mr Smiths and the Shadowthings are here.” The wozzle nodded. “Very long ago we met the Shadowthings and the ones we called Lord Smythes. We think that Lord Smythes and Mr Smiths are the same evil. Behind them would be the Shadowgod and it is logical that he would have possessed and then absorbed the real World President Sebastian Sauron of that other Alternate Earth.” There was no real talk after that. The matriarch and some other wozzles groomed Gratarg, which gave him great pleasure. They used wozzle grooming brushes and combs. In return he licked a wozzle now and then with his big lightly rough tongue. Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
Maharg67
BACKGROUNDDOOMSDAY, A MYSTERY Doomsday was an event that temporarily twisted the localised laws of nature. More time passed in some places than in others. Gravity, light and other forces were effected. Billions of people all around the world simply vanished. Some areas disintegrated while, right next to them, others remained relatively untouched. Islands sank and rose. Long dead volcanoes exploded into life. Earthquakes, cyclones, tidal waves and other such disasters occurred in some places while dead calm took place in others. Electromagnetic pulses smashed some cities. Rifts opened from other dimensional realms. Australia gained an inland sea. Antarctica gained the PurpleJungle. The SkyLands appeared. Atlantis ‘returned’. The SS Titanic sailed into New York. Santa Claus was spotted flying through the sky in his sled. Elvis the Pelvis booked an act at Los Vegas. Many other strange things happened. Nobody has been able to measure just how long ‘Doomsday’ actually lasted. Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSGRAHARG AND SOME PREPARATIONS Gratarg shook his head as if trying to clear his mind. “Deepcity is one vast machine that lies beneath the whole of Triplecity. More accurately it is one great component of many that lie beneath such reconstructed cities as London, Washington DC, Beijing and other places. The purpose of this world wide machine was to convert the world into some kind of heavily protected robotic and super virtual reality based utopia. The machine would generate a protective force bubble around the world and do other great wonders. The machine also had other purposes that for now eludes us.” They were leaving the Great Metal Cavern of Ice Pools after Graharg had meditated by floating in one of the salt water pools and then in one of the fresh water pools. In both cases he floated below the surface with out the risk of drowning. Even as they got closer to the edge of the great metal cavern, he spoke again. “Real history is messy. We Nine…” He cursed softly. “Well, it seems not all my memories have fully returned or clarified yet.” Gralena, of AlphaThirteen, spoke. “What next?” Graharg spoke. “Find clues, find Mr Smith, find a Shadowthing, find anything useful that we can, soon as we can. I have some ideas but no solid solutions. This is most frustrating but we are dealing with very deadly and cunning enemies. Please pause, everybody.” Graharg slipped some tiny golden orbs out of a pouch and hurled them into the air. They zipped through the air and splash landed into different ice. He did this many times with silver, copper, golden, green and other colours of orbs. Then he walked to a brassy figure of himself as World President James Patriot Jackson and he tipped back the top of its head to reveal a control panel. After pressing his palm against a plate and looking into two lens, he put in a relativity codeword. Only then was he free to use the control panel. Some of the statues began to move, revealing themselves to be long semiactive robots. He set other sequences into motion that were hidden. He then explained to the others. “I will not tell you all but the orblings will be kept safe until they can grow into orbites to move out and carry out various tasks through out the Triplecity. Again I can only tell you some of those tasks but they will be seeking clues and scouting for threats.” They were then heading further into PUP Territories. The fifteen of them threaded along utility tunnels, minisubway tunnels, large sized ventilation ducting and many other spaces. They went through long abandoned basement levels of great buildings and passed groups of deformed zhouls who would not attack with Graharg being there. He threw them handfuls of small black radroach biscuits and easy to open bottles of pristine water. They made sounds of pleasure and gratitude. They handed out biscuits and water fairly between each other for zhouls were not totally selfish or crazed with each other as most non zhouls assumed they were. Communicating with zhouls was not easy even for Graharg but from them he learned vital clues to where a Mr Smith was to be found. The group headed in that direction. Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSGRAMARG AND THE KARMATTA FAMILY Gramarg sat in a comfy couch-chair as the Karmatta Family came into the big treehouse greeting room. The triplets of teenagers were there, being two female and one male, while there were also four other siblings and the two parents along with two grandparents. From Hubtown the Karmatta Family had come, along with other refugees, officially to avoid Hubtown being overcrowded and sucked dry of resources. The truth was more that Gramarg wanted to meet with the Karmatta Family of powerful psychics and especially the psychic-psionic triplets. Graharg wished this strongly and Graharg had a strong influence on what the others of his kind did but this was not surprising since they were all cloned from him. Yet they also had a great deal of freedom which increased as Graharg got older and stronger but also wiser. The Karmatta Family were settling into living in a nice medium sized settlement where the adults worked as psychic officers for the government and the children all attended school or collage or academy except for the youngest, of course. They wore new clothes of a hybrid style of Wastelander and SanctuaryClaver. Gramarg spoke to them after initial greetings. “Please feel free to consume any of the drink and food on the table before you. The boxed chocolates are for you to take home with you as they are guest gifts.” Anthony Karmatta, the father of the triplets, spoke with a gruffness of tone that was not aggressive. He was a big, heavy man with plenty of muscle but also some plumpness. “Forgive me but why would you call us, a simple refugee family, to meet with you when you are so important in the SanctuaryClave?” “Honest, I like it!” Gramarg smiled and spoke after taking a sip of a rather fruity wine. “Graharg wanted to make sure that your family was safe but the main focus is the triplets being Johnnie, Joannie and Jeannie. We know they (you) are most important, sense it, but as yet do not know why. You are here because I wish to learn more. You are not in any danger, at least not from me and mine. We have promised this to be so.” Teresa Karmatta, the mother spoke then, keen eyed and roughly elegant. She studied Gramarg intently. “We have heard many strange stories about Graharg and those like him, such as yourself, I suppose. We have heard that Graharg plays many strange games, is involved with dark and twisted plots, is fighting terrible enemies. We would rather not get involved.” Gramarg sighed. “Everybody in the City of Cyborgs is involved already. SanctuaryClave is anchored to the Triplecity. Here also there is no real escaping from what is taking place. But here you are relatively safer. Graharg does what he must and what he can.” Joannie of the triplets then spoke. “You are not totally real.” Her parents looked startled and then concerned at such words. Gramarg only smiled. “A cloned expression or extension of Graharg himself, of the Second Nine, as he calls us, though we are not really nine in number. That is what I am. A special kind of clone. Hard to explain.” Teresa frowned softly at her daughter. “Such imaginations. I am sorry if you were offended.” Gramarg shook her head. “I was not offended.” The triplets all frowned almost as one. Johnnie spoke this time. “You are not real as in we are real. You are the solid dreaming of another reflected in the solid reflection of your own possibilities.” Gramarg nodded. “As I said, a very special type of clone, a psionic creation evolving into solid flesh shapeform inside the SanctuaryClave. The natural laws are special here in SanctuaryClave.” The triplets seemed more appeased now. Gramarg hid that she had been rather shocked by how easily they had seen into the core of her true nature. At that moment she was called away on urgent business. The first of the zyborg outbreaks had begun inside SanctuaryClave. It was happening at the Earthen Isles where the BetaThirteen were at and Gratarg was close to. Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSGRATARG, BETATHIRTEEN AND ZYBORGUS OUTBREAK ONE Humans would fall twitching to the ground or suddenly lean against the ground or would otherwise be helpless as they began to rapidly transform into zyborgs. Biomechanical cyborgs that is, the subjects screaming in pain as they transformed but then came the second surprise. Some would stop transforming and revert back to human as precautions taken by Graharg, and the others of the Second Nine, took effect. But not enough for just over half of those transformed kept changing. Zyborg humans and even animals attacked those around them with relentless savagery. Except, no, a fair sized minority of zyborgs attacked other zyborgs as another counter-action came into play. The BetaThirteen spread out, but not too much, as they took up positions behind hastily erected kevlar sandbags. The lightly power armoured humans fired off tripleguns, the animals lay low waiting to act and the robots fired off their own tripleguns. Military Police Troopers and Homeguard forces were scattered and in disorder as zyborgs rose amongst their numbers. Friendly zyborgs were silvery in colour and were soon being referred to as antizyborgs while enemy zyborgs were a dull, dark red. The name antizyborgs came about because nobody could think of a better name at the time. Smoke from burning buildings rose into the air even as explosions erupted deeper into the island’s most heavily inhabited zone. They were on the main island, the biggest one of the five islands that made up the Earthen Isles but he same troubles were taking place on all of the islands. A small vertibird shot overhead with a red zyborg clinging to its outside as the human pilot tried desperately to shake it off. Then something fast and powerful came flying through the air as Gratarg leapt a seemingly impossible distance, taking the zyborg with him as he did so. The zyborg vanished with a sparkling shimmer. BetaThirteen spread the good word; zyborgs could be taken down by electromagnetic pulses and reverted if delivered in time to the right scientific facilities. The zyborg transformation process was unstable and this instability meant an excellent chance of reversion if the zyborgs were treated in time. Antizyborgs could revert themselves, though it was a painful process and better done with the right assistance. Gratarg leapt right into a group of aggressive zyborgs, scattering them in all directions even as they charged towards a bunch of frightened teachers and schoolchildren. A red brick building was partly caved in but since it was made of smart materials it was a great deal tougher than a normal red brick building would have been. Zyborgs vanished, shimmering, and then reappeared as antizyborgs. The zyborgs were unleashing less death and destruction than they could have done but still the Earthen Isles had been struck a terrible blow. Human forces regrouped, with the assistance of androids and robots, to counter attack on four of the five islands. The fifth, nearly unpopulated island, was untouched by zyborg risings. That is the island was unpopulated except for such as seals, otters, birds and small carnivore mammals and reptiles. The battle continued as compact but powerful military hovercraft came gliding up the roads of the islands or over the other areas. Vertibirds and vertijets assisted lighter helicopters and jumpjets to fight the enemy. Most of the fighting was urban, was closer order from building to building. In the bunkers, tunnel networks and other areas beneath the surface, the fighting also raged. Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
Maharg67
BACKGROUNDSANCTUARYCLAVE? Was SanctuaryClave part of the Triplecity, of the City of Cyborgs? Many came to believe it was so because it had become so tightly tuned to the Triplecity even if it had not begun that way. SanctuaryClave was transdimensionally anchored to Triplecity. Graharg knew, though, that the SanctuaryClave’s very creation had only taken place because of Triplecity and in a real sense it was a subsector of the City of Cyborgs. Even if SanctuaryClave was much older than the City of Cyborgs, somehow it would never have existed with out the City of Cyborgs. Graharg would only say to most when asked about this mystery, “It’s a matter of time!” Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSGRAHARG AND THE DEAD ARMY They found the dead PUP army of soldiers scattered, rent and torn, over the whole of three great chambers. Destroyed robots and androids were with them along with smashed compact military vehicles. Over a thousand soldiers had been killed there and even Graharg had trouble counting the true number, such was the carnage. Amongst them were eight dead GuardTek military advisers and it became clear at once that the TekOrder had been the one supplying the Peoples Union of People with more resources. It would be like them to use a power like the PUP in such a fashion but it seemed that in this case, at least, the result had been a bloody waste of resources. Mr Smith had been there, Graharg could sense it, but so had been a Shadowthing, shadowlings of various kinds, Necrotic forces and also zyborgs. Human fighters had turned into zyborgs, controlled by Mr Smith, it seemed and had turned on the defenders or was that the case? Zyborgs were gone except for bits of them almost lost amongst the mess. Graharg scowled hard. “Something here does not add up to a simple picture. The PUP military force entered the area into the big chambers in careful military formation. These were better trained and more experienced fighters than typical low quality PUP mercenaries or conscripts. The ambush took place coming in from hidden spaces and tunnel entrances behind false wall, ceiling and floor panels. Shadowforce and Necrotic forces attacked. But what of the zyborgs? Yes, they attacked the PUP forces, but they also attacked the ambushers. This was a three way battle.” They found the mangled remains of Warlord Ranga Stratton amongst those of his elite bodyguards, advisers and soldier girl mistresses. This was indeed the elite force that the PUP had raised with the support of the TekOrder. Data he picked up from surviving datachips and other sources confirmed this picture of events. But what had Ranga Stratton and his force been doing in that area, what was the mission that the TekOrder had given the immortal Warlord to carry out for them? He found the mission data in a datachip hidden in Ranga Stratton’s skull. The immortal Warlord had been sent to start a military campaign against the Free Union of Peoples so as to divert their military power away from what the Tekkers were doing in the area. The datachip did not state what that was except to remind Stratton that he needed to keep an open search for data relating to Subjects One-One, One-Two and One-Three, what ever they were. It was Stratton’s own hidden notes in the same datachip, most likely put there with out the knowledge of the Tekkers, that gave away what this meant. One-One was the World Machine, the great machine that was hidden below Triplecity and other great cities. One-Two was and others like him that the Tekkers seemed to assume were closely linked. One-Three was the Enclavers, Earthnet and other such forces. Graharg made an important decision; he called for special resources to come from SanctuaryClave to assist to further investigate the battle scene and to sweep up all substances for clues and to be recycled or reused. Making such a link with SanctuaryClave was not easy and it was highly energy expensive. Before that he called upon the Light. Teams of specialists came from SanctuaryClave and with them many power armour workers and soldiers along with androids and robots. The forensics effort was led by Graharg and the AlphaThirteen as they tried to learn what they could from what had happened there. After that was a clean up and then the return to SanctuaryClave of all the units that had come along with what they had gathered. Maharg67
BACK STORYDREAMING OF SUMMERTIME (SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE) OF 1945 The Japanese Empire was pushing a fleet towards the Greynari mothership that had landed in the Southern Pacific Ocean. The Americans and Allies were also rushing towards the great, alien spaceship that was floating half sunken in the ocean. He had a bad feeling about the whole thing and the closer to the alien saucer they got, the worse he felt as did the others of the First Nine. James Jackson, later to be known as World President James Patriot Jackson and then Graharg, stood lightly miserable on the deck of a gun grey Australian frigate. Why was the teenager out there? Because he had very strong psychic abilities and emerging psionic ones. Along with other members of the First Nine, he had been conscripted to the Free Alliance cause. He had been the only human to not vanish in his town. His family, his friends, his teachers, everybody he had known had vanished except for a small number of out of town relatives, only one of which he liked. He turned to the Special Intelligence Officer next to him, a tough older man in a military uniform and life-jacket. “A Japanese long range recon plane is not far from us but it is in trouble of some kind.” He pointed out to the horizon, to the south-east. “The plane came from one of those big new Japanese submarine-ships. Yes, it is almost exactly three and three quarters of a mile from here.” Then he gave a more exact bearing. Some mysterious force was providing the Japanese Empire with new resources both more mundane and more exotic. The same was happening to the Third Reich that had recently annexed the Italian Alps where it was building a powerful series of fortresses bunkers from which attacks and counter attacks could take place. Amongst the more exotic resources were cloned humans, floating heavier than air ships, exoskeleton battlemechs and laserguns. The Free Alliance had been deeply concerned until they also began to be supported by mysterious forces with mundane to more exotic devices. They were much the same as those provided to the Japanese and Axis with some important exceptions. Indeed there were some important differences between what the Japanese and Axis were gaining. The Special Intelligence Officer, a title that deliberately told nothing about what he actually did, picked up a telephone hand-set, cranked a handle and then reported what James had said. When the Japanese aeroplane appeared it came swiftly and proved itself to be a floatplane. Behind it came five black dots that were slowly catching up to the Japanese despite it going at full speed. It was an Aichi E13A, known by the Allies as a ‘Jane’, and it had a crew of three. It was also a type of aircraft that relied on a ship or submarine-ship to return to. James cursed softly and then explained. “Those things chasing the Japanese aircraft used to be seabirds but something evil absorbed them, changed them and made them into something antinatural. They must be destroyed from a distance or they will consume air crew and turn them into monsters. They will even alter the aircraft to use them against us.” American aircraft from an aircraft carrier were approaching the black things and ignoring the Japanese aircraft. The Japanese waved their wings, desperate not to be shot down and then they began to land. The American Hellcat fighters unlashed a hail of heavy machinegun bullets and the new gattling-rockets. The black things exploded and perished, vanishing away with flashes of red hot light. The officer shrugged. “Not much of a threat.” James shook his head. “You do not understand. Those poor deformed seabirds, whose life forces are now free, are not the real threat. The real threat absorbed the Japanese long range submarine-ship in less than twelve minutes, along with the hundred plus Japanese crew, air-crew and marines on board. That is the vessel that the recon plane came from.” The officer nodded grimly. “Well, there is nothing we can do but go report what you have learned and then get some food, tea for you and coffee for me.” Edited May 4, 2011 by Maharg67
Maharg67
CITY OF CYBORGSGRAMARG AND THE KARMATTA TRIPLETS IN SANCTUARYHUB Gramarg stood in the upgraded Control Coordination Computational Chamber. The changes had been necessary to begin a great new program of a diagnostic sweep of all of the vast network of network-systems of subnetwork-subsystems that made up SanctuaryClave. Vital and concerning questions had arisen about the actual safety, security and stability of those network-systems. The triplets stood behind her looking around in sheer astonishment at the amazing technologies on display, on the fancy roboremotes, robots and high grade androids functioning there as well as cyborged specialists cyberlinked into the networks. Huge 3Dwallscreens showed data, showed views of various parts of SanctuaryClave and SanctuaryHub. Some showed the Earthen Isles where the fighting was over and the clean up had begun. Gramarg sighed. “This is not the first time we have tried such a large scale diagnostic sweep but now we have gained new clues to past discrepancies that at the time seemed not so important.” Johnnie spoke. “You were hacked into and that is why you did not think the discrepancies were not important.” Gramarg sighed again. “Very true. One of us betrayed the others. Graharg heavily suspects Grazarg but I do not agree. Firstly, Graharg is heavily biased because I once rejected Graharg to have an intimate relationship with Grazarg. Secondly, Grazarg is just too crude and arrogant to consider such a plan or to serve such as World President Sebastian Sauron. It was why I left Grazarg to return to Graharg only to find that Graharg would never forgive me.” Joannie nodded. “Boys can be mean that way.” “So can girls.” Gramarg reached out and her fingers darted over a keypad with amazing speed and precision to feed in commands. “The three of you were born in the city of Melbourne?” Jeannie spoke this time. “We have two fathers, two biological fathers being one more conventional and one more exotic. Graharg is our exotic biological father.” Gramarg nodded. “Fascinating! Explains at least partly why Graharg sensed something very special in you. Gratarg is now working with BetaThirteen trying to track down more trouble before it takes place. Graharg is in Melbourne and is again tracking a Mr Smith thanks to some helpful zhouls. I am assisting both of them while carrying out various tasks and projects. One project is to gain more understanding about yourselves.” Johnnie nodded. “We sensed a strong link with Graharg when we first saw him. Also with UnityFree. Those Cyborgia are interesting and so are those True Blue Ocker Mutants. Funny, really.” Gramarg spoke. “There are colonies of Cyborgia, UnityFree and True Blue Ocker Mutants here. We are inviting the Free Union of People to put a colony here and it seems they are more than willing to do so. It will give them to access the resources of SanctuaryClave. The whole idea of keeping this place secret has become pointless now that the enemy knows about it.” Which was when a strange shimmering shudder went through everything and alarms began to sing. It only lasted about eighteen seconds. Screens scrambled or blanked out but most of the network-systems seemed to withstand the shock well. Gramarg looked deeply concerned. “That should not have happened, not with all the many sophisticated and powerful safety network-systems in operation. It certainly should not have been felt here in SanctuaryHub, which indicates it may well have been felt more strongly in other areas of SanctuaryClave.” But it turned out to be the opposite situation; it had been experienced worse in SanctuaryHub than in other areas of SanctuaryClave as if some force was attacking SanctuaryHub, the vital core of SanctuaryClave.
