AzrielRagia
I am really needing some help. I just recently got Fallout New Vegas for my computer and i downloaded a couple mods and tried to load them up with mod manager. I then tall the mod manager to launch the NVSE.exe and fallout loads up. but its just vanilla fallout. no mods are active. when I close fallout and open the mod manager again. the mods i turned on are deselected from the load list. please help. I really want to play some of the mods. Thanks in advanceAzriel
DoctorKaizeld
which mod manager are you using and are they installing to the right folder? (unless you moved it it will be: Program files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > common > Fallout New Vegas)

Does anyone know the solution to this problem? thanks in advance Azriel
leobarton
I'm actually in the same boat as Azriel; just downloaded NV the night before last. I've played it quite a bit on 360 but decided to drop the $12 since it was on sale on Steam so that I could try it with mods, but even after installing NVSE and running the Nexus Mod Manager, my NV game is vanilla. Also like Azriel, whenever I load up NMM, all .esm files except for the official DLC are deselected, as are all of the .esp files period. I select them all each time I start the game. I'm not 100% sure it's a problem with NMM, since I've also tried manually downloading and installing a couple simple mods, to no effect. Also, though I'm not sure this is related, Fallout Mod Manager gives me an error every time I try to open it. Has the game had a recent update that renders a lot of mods incompatible, maybe? leobarton
UPDATE: After digging in a little deeper and spending a little time in-game, it would seem that at least two mods are working, namely my body mods. However, none of the other mods I've downloaded and installed (new weapons, new companions, new houses) are showing up. Not sure if this update helps the troubleshooting, but I wanted to be thorough just in case.
DoctorKaizeld
I downloaded them through the mod manageri know, which one? there are three. I'm actually in the same boat as Azrieli will still help you, but for future knowledge your supposed to start your own thread. this is because of many reasons, including the fact that no two people have the exact same issue. Has the game had a recent update that renders a lot of mods incompatible, maybe?no did you archive invalidate?

My apologies, I hadn't wanted to spam the message board with another instance of an almost-identical problem. I'll keep that in mind for the future, thank you. did you archive invalidate? Yes, more than once. Admittedly I'm not exactly sure what that does, but more than one of the readme files for the mods I downloaded listed it as a step, so I did it several times throughout my download/install processes, including two or three times since I installed my last one. JimboUK
Have you got Steam installed in your Program Files? if so move it, the Program Files are protected by Windows User Account Control which interferes with mods. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129 Also try running NMM as admin. AzrielRagia
Found the fix. You need to load up Fallout with the default exe. not NMM, or NVSE or anything. then select the data files options and manually turn on all the mods listed there. once you do that the NMM works as normal, I can uninstall and install all mods (so far) through the mod manager and use NVSE to load the game as normal. Thank you for all the help and replies. Azriel
