I just don't see the point of limiting it to co-op and Arena matches, when Elder scrolls fans can have a a fully modded world that they create and run, just like Neverwinter nights.

wait...what?

Neverwinter Nights is a Forgotten realms RPG from bioware, it has a multiplayer option. People build there own worlds. Some of them are on dedicated servers, own and run by individuals. They form role-playing communities. Think of it like a MMO with-out the massive part.

There is one called Haven, which is a mature RP Server. It has its own laws and people assume roles. THe best part is the multiplayer client downloads modifications form the server and stores them in a separate directory, so everyone playing on that server has the same MODS.

So if someone coded one for skyrim, you could easily do that same thing, and build whole new player worlds, and not have to worry about MOD conflicts. Because it would be seperate from the single player campaign.

It's great because unlike an MMO being based around grinding and leveling up, these servers hold usually less than 50 people at a time and form close communities and focus more on player interaction, and playing the role.

That would be awesome....but if I remember right...Neverwinter Nights is quite and old game so I think that making a world for it and making a world for Skyrim are 2 diferent things...but I would love to see the same ideia on Skyrim...its also kinda like Minecraft were there are public server but theres not like 123142152351979 players on a server and more like 10, 20 maybe 50 on a single server

The fact that NWN is an old game is irrelevant. ALso no not all servers could be public people would have an option to have a private server also. Or have application for people to play on their server. After all if you and your friends like role-playing in the context of elder scrolls lore, it would be rather annoying to have some tween RPing as a final fantasy character.

Guess you could call this a /bump but anyway

My preference for multiplayer TES would NOT be MMO style whatsoever, oh heavens no, I've had my share of that--that would absolutely ruin the solitude and sanctity of one of the fundamental values of the Elder Scrolls franchise: a world NOT overrun by squeaky 12 year olds

No, my preference is to only have the option and availability for just one other person, 1 person! to join you, and have a party of two adventuring--you and a friend, that is all--3 people would be ok but as BladeValent546 says,

Knowing a little bit about game designer, a Co-op Option would be barely any effort to add

Once you get above 2, it becomes a slippery slope, where do you stop, so I'm very happy with 2

Plus, TES has been single player forever now--don't you think Bethesda should step it up a bit other than just fancy visuals and animations? Shouldn't they raise the bar in other directions too? Why not co-op?

Just looking for co-op here, doesn't have to be all that challenging. . .hopefully :pinch:

I like the sound of co-op more than mmo.

Games with thousands of people playing at once just ruins it a little. If Skyrim had a multiplayer feature, it would best have it limited to maybe 10 players.

The Neverwinter game multiplayer thing sounds like a good idea, but what if the multiplayer just reverted to vanilla until you finished playing multiplayer and then goes back to your modded Skyrim.

Another thing that might make the possiblility more possible, is having a separate worldspace that is much smaller than what Skyrim is going to be. Say 1 square kilometre. This would make the game load much faster and overall make it more enjoyable.

I agree on Single player Co-op simply because in order for them to have good Co-op, they need to work on the single player since that's the meat of the particular multiplayer mode. Of course though, they'd have to make sure that Co-op actually works right *cough* Fable 3 *cough* but other than that, they're killing 2 birds with one stone.

That's not even taking into account the amount of time they usually take to develop these ES games. 4-5 yrs when your average game takes about 2. Yeah, I think online co-op would totally work.

As long as Todd Howard as any say in the matter, co-op won't ever make it's way into the game.

Besides, I want to know if anyone can give a half-decent answer for this: Why does every god damn game need some form of cookie cutter multiplayer? The Elder Scrolls is doing incredibly well - no need to fix what isn't broken.

Well some game really dont need any tipe of MP.....other would really favor from it (Black any one?).....IMO Skyrim would be even more awesome with Co-op.....I'm Diablo had it....Fable has it....so having an RPG with some MP is good....I dont mean turn Skyrim in a MMO but something like a 4 or 6 Co-op would be awesome.....I mean dont you want to adventure with your friends?

I mean I hate when an MP is just shoed into a game but I'm not talking about a very hard thing to do.....I mean they could add it in the future and not at launch

because co-op worked SO well for fable didnt? it does a very good job at sucking all the fun out of the game. just because co-op worked for halo2 and everyone else copyed it doesnt mean every game needs it. i dont understand why everyone wants some type of cookie cutter forum of MP from EVERY game now. the only way an elder scrolls game would have an enjoyable co-op is if the whole game was built around that idea, like borderlands but like borderlands other aspects of the game would suffer greatly for it. and then if would happen it'd remove just about everything that makes elder scrolls special.
