Daerchador
I have an idea that will alter much of vanilla oblivion if your'e interested and have some skill (as i have none, nor the equipment, nor the funds or patience) at modding (preferably Oblivion) anyway the entire idea would be to large to state here... (like a huge mountain of boring text XD) ... I hope some will help me with this best regards, R de Kroon EDIT: you may post here to of course :P Edit: I've removed an offensive part here for some reasons... also Edited January 28, 2011 by R de kroon
David Brasher
Modding doesn't cost money. It is a very cheap activity. The fact that you play Oblivion and use the Internet to post on the forum seems to indicate that you own a computer powerful enough for modding. (For most modding operations, you can use a computer much weaker than what you would need to play Oblivion with a few mods and a good framerate.) All the software you need is free to download. It follows that you do have the equipment and funds for modding. What exactly is your role in this? You don't want to be a modder, but you are doing this cloak and dagger stuff and don't want to tell people what your mod idea is. The truth is, that mods mostly belong to the modders. If you get a modder to make your mod, it isn't going to be your mod anymore. It will be his or her mod. He or she will get top billing as mod author, and you will be down in the credits somewhere as "writer" or something. So if you have a secret plan and want fame and glory, maybe you should become a modder. I don't understand the "stolen" thing. If you upload a mod, you have lost control of it at that instant. You have given a gift to the gaming community. Suppose that nobody steals your mod and you always get appropriate credit. If your mod is good, people are still going to steal your ideas. If you make a Robin Hood mod, then they will build another Robin Hood themed mod. I suppose you just have a new idea and you want to be the very first person to ever release a mod anything at all like it?
LHammonds
Large mod? And you are only going to contribute ideas? Be prepared for your mod to never be realized. Many projects fail because the one driving it does not have the skills to complete it and relies on others...which may come and go over time for various reasons. For large mods with a long timeline, don't expect the people that helped you start the mod will be the ones finishing it. That is way too rare. Small mods? Yes, I've seen many done by request but I have yet to see a large mod managed by somebody that isn't doing the modding themselves. Not trying to rain on your parade, just letting you know not to be too optimistic...even if you were able to round up several people to work on it. EDIT: Also, this is basically a "mod request" so I will move it to the appropriate forum. Mod Talk --> Mod Requests LHammonds
Lanceor
Making a mod is a bit like making a movie. I'm sure many of us could come up a movie script better than half of what Hollywood churns out these days, but actually getting it made is the hard part. The best way to see a grand mod idea come to fruition exactly the way you envision it is actually to shelve it for a while... Make some small mods to bring up your skills in various areas. When you can say to yourself "I could make 2/3 of this mod by myself", get started on it to have something to show others, and then recruit people for the bits that you can't do or think that someone else can do better. And that's how the great movie makers did it: George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron and Quentin Tarantino all gained experience making low budget films before they turned their "killer idea" into a blockbuster movie. Daerchador
ok, thank you all for your replies. I will see into it all. .... hmm i suppose that what i said about stealing was inappropriate of me.... I would like to say sorry to all that were offended by these words, and shall remove them instantly and cast em to Oblivion :P however, I must say that it will still be impossible for me to start real modding anywhere in the near future as personal problems (especially with my mental disease) restrict me from having the patience to learn to mod effectivly...
