coreypikes
Well, most highway men probably assume nude people aren't carrying anything anyway, so may as well just strike up a conversation instead of sticking them up. I had something intelligent to add to the topic until I read this. Lols ensued.
vvk78
Umm.. prison guards still body-search you even if you are nude. :ohmy:They say you don't need a pocket or a bag to hide small items. :woot:A skooma bottle, on the other hand, might be difficult to conceal, unless you dunked into it.
majikmonkee
This discussion is going to a very weird place...lol. What you say is true, although highwaymen tend to wait for you to hand over the goods, I've never had one actually perform the search though (maybe it's because they're usually hitting the ground about five seconds after ask for your money)... Ferryt
If you don't give a highwayman the money he'll attack you. I've used that on occasion to lead him to a nearby Imperial guard on horseback. :) Anyway, there IS a way in-game for NPCs to recognize what you're wearing. If you're not wearing upper class clothing and/or jewelry the guard at the door to the dining room in Leyawiin Castle during the Sanguine quest won't admit you. Whether or not this feature of the game is accessible through scripting, I don't know, since there are so many things about Oblivion that are hard-coded into the game -- this could be one of them. I do know that with OBSE you can write scripts which can sort inventory items so my guess is that using OBSE you could write a script to evaluate the inventory of a character, determine what is equipped, and make decisions based upon that. majikmonkee
I don't know much about coding but I imagine it's a pretty generic check just for a couple of possible clothing items. It would probably take a lot of work to build it into something that checked for pants and stuff individually.
Lazilot
I haven't used the mod yet but, Highwaymen don't attack me...Normally. Sometimes Highwaymen will try to rob me and then attack me but most times they leave me alone. Same goes for Nature, Mostly my only threat in the wilderness is the Daedra. SimpleGlitch
the guard at leyawiin doesn't really check what your wearing, Your charater has a hidden stat which adds up the value of everything your wearing. Basically you could walk up to the guard wearing rusty iron armor, but because the armor is worth more the clothes, he will say your dressed for the party... you probably can walk up to him with just a magic ring on and he will let you in. Ferryt
You're correct, SimpleGlitch. I checked the quest in the CS, since I'm working on something anyway, right now, and if the value of your clothes is at least 80 Gold (and jewelry counts as clothing in the game, so you could walk in wearing nothing but a magic ring) and the guard's disposition toward you is at least 70, he lets you in. ChaosApostle
Actually the way to get the penalties for not wearing clothing would be in just an overwhelming (for most) amount of scripting. The reason that no added clothing mods would be compatible with the mod is because they do not have scripts applied to the clothes. The NPCs would then react when you are not wearing items that are scripted. The other alternative method would be to find a way to equip a script onto the body so that it actively detects/checks if you have clothing on your upper/lower body, and if not it triggers the appropriate responses from the NPCs. Thing is, that means going through the dialog of every NPC and making them match the personality/role of the characters. Time consuming, especially when TES:CS is notorious for just flat out crashing after so many changes (I've had it happen several times, and I still don't understand why it chooses to hang up and not let me save/edit any more, as if indefinitely seeking a nif (or something similar) that it can not find, because it is not there and never was there. Either way, this goes in to many aspects of the game having NPCs recognizing the world around them. There are just so many things that would need huge scripting efforts to see the world wake up and thrive instead of acting like mindless drones, as well as incorporating more poses/actions into them so they not only react but physically gesture fittingly to their surroundings, though in real they are just puppets to the scripts.
