those pics look epic lol maybe those can be the tribal look for them

 

i suggested a while back oh and welcome lidarian so far havent seen any updates

 

by razorpony on the khajiit/argonian but i am sure he will once things quiet down for him work wise

 

also i quite liked the argonian pic it looks like what a tribal lizard person would look like lol

they could be more civilized,i have no problem with that i can always get barbaric gear when im fellin it, i just want them to be anatomically "correct" and not lazy, re-skinned stock bodies, btw i heard about the scripted feet for argonians, when i extracted the esp. file to oblivion data, my pc crashed, that was on my old pc with all my data and im letting a freind borrow my goty edition TESIV for the week, what happened, anyone know, feel free to talk technical ive worked with pcs for years, but i cant figure this out, i think it might be a malware any ideas what happened, im kinda afraid to try it again,in the meantime ive been playin morrowind (ah the epic nostalgia) anyone know a mod that fixes the argonian and kahjiit walking disorder, i mean seriously they look like they have serious mental retardation, i cant stand it ,i wont play one walkin like that, im a nord now, if theres an improved walk mod someone please post a link. thank you and madgods blessings edit: ive played oblivion since 06 and ive taken breaks to play new releases, and whenever im waiting on a game or theres one of those game "pauses" like we where at before portal 2 where no one is making good enough games, elder scrolls it the foundation i rely on, throw in new mods and re-experience it in new ways, btw morrowind i noticed glitches in balmora, it happened to me i was scavenging through boxes for money and items when a box had all daedric items in existence in the game,i was very surprised, i left it alone because the game would then be too easy, but i sold some, if this happens to you it has to me twice, its the first crate outside of the armor shop Edited by lidarian

Just wanted to post a progress report.

 

I've finished the legs and feet for both Roberts male and female bodies. The feet have been reworked a bit more to reduce some unneeded polys and smoothe the mesh. I also changed the UV mapping to blend more seamlessly with the leg texture. Overall I think they turned out well. I changed the positioning of the claws to the top of the toes to resemble the way an actual cats claws roll forward when extended. They're still black, I can't find a color I like that gives decent contrast with the fur. Any suggestions here? This is what the feet currently look like in Nifscope:

I've also worked out what I hope to be the last of the scripting hurdles. Now that I'm confident this will actually work I can share with you the details. I've used an OBSE function to redirect what .nifs get loaded based on the player (or NPCs) race. Basically if you're an Imperial then steel boots will look like steel boots. However if you take those same boots off and give them to your Khajiit CM partner, they will look like Khajiit style boots. No vanilla .nifs get overwritten and all NPCs in the game will get the new style armors whenever the mod is loaded. It also fixes the Springheel Jak quest item issue. We can make any armor look like anything we want, but only when worn by a Khajiit.

 

The downside is that to do this I had to attach scripts to all the vanilla armors, and edit those scripts for quest items. This SHOULDN'T cause any problems so long as no other mods try to do the same thing. I didn't want to use this method but it was the only way I could get everything to work seamlessly and so it was a fair tradeoff in my opinion. So far I have a rough model of the steel boots that look like this:

The rest of the vanilla armors will likely have a similar style unless anyone has other suggestions. I'll report back in when I've made more progress.

this put a smile on my face, something i kinda wanted to see is furrier kahjiit, maybe a long or medium hair

or a full head\neck mane and a bit of a longer face

That's caused by not having the correct bone weights in that area. I dont know about yours, but I have had to specifically not modify the human torso, so the top line of the horse's neck (where the join is) actaully get rigged to the pelvis rather then a horse bone. Of course for yours you wouldnt have to do that, but you might wana to match up weight for the huamn and horse parts in the area around the join.

The problem is that - I can not fix it.

When I load the bone and skin in to Gmax (in Blender I can not handle), the model is very distorted and unusable. It looks like this :wallbash: :

I think, this error could be repaired by removing links to human skeleton in the horse part labeled "Horse_Upper". But this can not be done in Gmax, as well as your original skeleton and the skin is distorted after loading in to Gmax.

what body replacer are you using, currently im using rob's 4, its doesnt liik like rob'd body textures, but the meshes do, i can see every li'l detail in the skin its great

comparing the structures of modern water running lizard, to ancient bird and ancient crocodile bones shows similarities in function and design, so if your stuck look at some bird bones, their legs have much in common with reptiles

Since it's my mod in question here I want to make sure I got you right. Your PC crashed while extracting Scripted Argonian Feet's ESP into your data folder? Or did it crash while trying to use it ingame?

I know my scripts crash "the game" when one's trying to use them with a lower game version than the latest, v1.2.0416, but crashing the PC is a new one to me. As for malware in my archives, if that was the case, I think many others would have complained already as well, and as far as I'm informed the Nexus keeps its files pretty clean of any viruses or other such stuff. If it was indeed crashing during extraction, I suggest downloading it again. Perhaps the download got somehow corrupted and the unpacker crashed due to the invalid file structure, and took your PC with it. It wouldn't be the first time things like this happened.

Regarding the bone structures in lizard legs, at the moment I think the cosmetic improvements are enough to make Argonians "feel" more right, without massively adding to the modder's work load. Obviously having a more reptilian hip/leg/foot shape would be ideal, but that would drastically increase the required mesh alteration work, as all of the lower body stuff would also need to be revised and scripted to change.

 

The same comment more-or-less applies to cat bone structures and the Khajiit. My cat at home often pops up onto his hind legs to look at something or to cadge food, and if you based a Khajiit on his proportions you'd need to stretch the body to about 50-60% longer, and reduce the legs accordingly. Whilst being more anatomically correct, it would probably look VERY odd in-game.

 

As regards the download of Drake's mods - I have re-grabbed them and checked with two virus checkers, and they are valid and virus/malware free. I strongly suspect the poster with problems has got another underlying error which caused a crash, possibly an earlier version of the archive extraction program which doesn't fully support the archive format, or possibly trying to extract to a system-protected area (Vista and Win7 have all sorts of quirks related to that problem).

i dont know what happened drake but i tried again and it works fine thank you for the great mod(s) and i looked at my old cat's leg and i understand completely what you mean markln, and i like the way razorpony did it it looks good, btw i tried out a construction program on my bro's pc <he used to mod> and it was rather neat, id like to get into modding, who knows i might be a lil bit good at it, anyone know a good program to use??? thank you ill look into the problem more and ill put it in this pc, and ive had a cat 14 years (old cat) and i see what you are talking about it would look a bit strange in game, but if the legs looked more like the leg of a cat normally on all fours, slightly altered to....i dont know how to explain....take a look at this cat performing yoga stretches

now...look what i did here i marked with ms paint, the leg bends in multiple places,i made a smaller rendition of the leg more khajiit like,you can easily see how it could be for a humanoid-cat person the thigh branches to a smaller lower leg connecting the foot
