Authors, Please, Please, Name Your Files Properly

On too many occasions have I downloaded a mod that had a file name that was so different than the name of the mod it was supposed to be, that I had to sit down and ponder "WHY". And after several hours of trying to guess why, I still couldn't come up with a plausible explanation.

If the file is NOT named after the Mod it represents, then how will the user know what mod it is for when he looks at it later. Or worse, he may have 200 mods installed, and needs to locate that one mod for deletion, so his game will stop crashing.

Just common sense, or reasoning sense.

Thanks.

JW.

Not really something that Nexus is in control of, though there is always the option to rename your esp's as you install them to something that makes more sense.

I know, but for those times you forget to, ohhhhh, there can be sooo much trouble, especially if you have 50 more mod tests to do. And besides, who wants to rename 50 mods, when they could have been named right to begin with?

Been there, done that. I test mods more than play. I have like 1100 hours on skyrim, but I'm sure only about 100 are actual playing hours.

I agree 100%. When I make mods I make sure to name the plugins to something that makes sense. I also have a habit or renaming mods when I download them because stupid names just drive me nuts. All I can say is thank Tannin for Mod Organizer. Saved me so many times I can't even begin to describe.

I'm in the same boat. I was shocked when I looked at Steam the other day and said I had 692 hours on Skyrim. I was like what? I've only played a fraction of that. All those mod testings, redoing things, starting new characters, etc.

Anyway, point of this thread. You have at least one modder who is on board and understands exactly what you mean and your frustrations. I don't know if that's a help, but at least it's a start :p
