Unofficial mod request checklist

We all come up with crazy ideas and then we post them on New Vegas mod request just to find out that either someone posted it already or that someone has no idea what the mod you requested is about at all. This is a checklist for things to do before posting a new super great idea that a modder might want to implement in his/her work

1:Make sure your idea is realistic.

Asking for a monster truck may not be something accomplished by 99 percent of the modders. Vehicles are a common request and they are not something that can be accomplished by a lot of people.

Asking for a simple small vault house will EASILY grant you results simply because a lot of modders know how to do those types of things.

2:Search.

I've seen about three topics about horses in Fallout New Vegas. Having more then one topic about a single idea can get annoying for modders

trying to find an idea, so PLEASE before posting search on both New Vegas Nexus and the Mod Request forum itself.

3: Use descriptive title

A lot of people post topics saying " I have an idea for a mod" It gets annoying simply because chances are if you are browsing a mod REQUEST section you will probably find all topics of people requesting a mod so "I have an idea for a mod" will not give your fellow members any quick information at all.

4: Give enough information.

Many people might request something someone else may have no idea about. For example. Not everyone in the world may know about Star Wars so if you are going to ask for a lightsaber mod please give an image or describe what a light saber is and how it looks like. Especially if asking anyone interested to PM you. Remember to ask nicely, no one wants to help someone who is demanding instead of politely asking.

5: Wait patiently for a modder response.

Most of the replies would probably be from people liking your idea or disliking it. Or maybe they might give you a link to a mod that does exactly what you want that you somehow missed.

If a modder does make a mod for you please say thank you. No one pays any modder to make a mod and they are spending their time to help you!

If no modder responds it might as well be too hard or just something no modder feels strongly about making.

BUT DO NOT BUMP YOUR OWN THREAD.

Bumping is annoying. If no one want to do your idea well chances are bumping will not do anything at all. And it can make you get a nice long warning from a moderator. If you don't believe that it is against the rules then go to the mod request section and look at the first stickied thread.

I hope you find this guide useful into a better more easy to use Mod Request section for both mod makers and mod users. Suggestions are appreciated.

Also may I add that telling people to PM you for the idea won't get you any responses.

I am not sure what you exactly mean by that. Like if someone makes a topic with an idea about a mod and tell someone that if they do it they should PM them??

How about don't ask for horses, dual wielding, driveable vehicles, or bows.

They are hard to do but not impossible to do, but I will add about having a realistic idea and not getting too excited with something that cannot be accomplished.

What I meant earlier was posts like this (Making this up as I write it so nobody is pointed at):

"yo guys i got an awesome idea for a huge mod pm me and ill tell you"

I think the descriptive topic covers it. If you give information about what you exactly want and say that if someone is interested in doing it that they should pm the OP. Its usually done when the person itself has a bit more experience with moding and just needs some material to finish their project. But I'll add about having good enough detail in the main paragraph about it. Thanks for the suggestion.
