Kel1978
Anybody know of an essential/must have mods list for FO3? I've googled but all i see are way out of date.

Arkngt
Kelmych/Fallout3's STEP guide is very up to date. That said, I'm not using half of the mods in it and not MO or LOOT either. One man's essential mod is on another's list of needless or annoying mods, so it's basically impossible to make a general list of essential mods IMO. I'd say NMM's texture pack, but someone else might be completely uninterested in texture replacers. I'd say FWE, but there are lots of players that don't like it at all. Anyway, some of my essential mods are: FWEMMMWMKFlora OverhaulFO3LODGenXepha's Dynamic WeatherXepha's Darkened InteriorsGNR EnhancedDC InteriorsStreet LightsNMMs texture packUHQ Terrain OverhaulPOCO BUENO Texture Pack (for FNV but works for F3 as well)Wasteland Clothing Overhaul (for FNV but works for F3 as well)Weapon Enhancement Pack I could go on for quite a while, but those are some basic ones for me, dealing (mostly) with graphics and gameplay. Billy1969
Arkngt pretty much nailed the essentials in his list. Only one I'm not using in his list is weapon mod kits, but that's because my load order is crack full and I don't have room for more before the game becomes unplayable or crashes. If you like quests then you should try all Puce Moose Mods, A quest for heaven series especially the third part which is imo the best mod I ever played for Fallout 3, Alien Resurrection part one and more, just look in the files section under categories, quests. If I should pick only one companion mod it would be Brisa, hands down, most configurable one for fallout 3. Then you have Amy Wong and the 187Gurlz mod who complete my top 3, if you prefer quantity and choice over more personalised companions like the previous ones, then you have RR Companions mod who places a truckload of companions throughout the game (check out Herculines mods for it) If you like weapons, try to find XCALIBR Universe from Erache, or Apocalypse Armory or 20cth Century Weapons, I use all three + some other ones lol, did I mention I like weapons? If you use a lot of mods together you definitely need the blackened patches and I would recommend using the unofficial fallout 3 patch also as it corrects a truckload of bugs in the original game. That's about all I can give off the top of my head atm.
7thsealord
Really, a lot is about individual tastes and jiust what you want from your game - AND the limitations of whatever system you might be using. Ask ten different people, and youi are extremely unlikely to get the same answers. One mod I think most people will agree on is 'DC Interiors'. It just adds s-o-o-o much extra interior space and items to the game. If you like exploration and/or collecting junk, you cannot go past this one. Otherwise, for me, in a very mixed order: COL Enclave Armors - Considerably improves the look of all Enclave armors. You see how kewl they look, and you WANT them for yourself.700 Nitro Express - Very nice heavy-hitting weapon for early on. Doesn;t need CALIBR.TecVault - Quest mod involving a series of battles with Talon Company. The prize is an expecially nice (and upgradable) Vault staffed by friendly NPCs as a home.BusWorld - adds varied (and detailed) interiors to buses and railway carriages all over the wastes.Uncle Shubs Salad Scissors - for an interesting array of Wasteland melee weapons.Tailor Maid - For outfit "extras".Enclave Hideout - Provides a very nice base just outside Springvale School. All you have to do is take it off the several Enclavers living there. Very nice roomy place, all mod cons, plenty of storage and base-level gear, expecially good if you have multiple companions.
