OBGE: sudden unusual shader activation

I removed Shezrie's Towns today, and things started acting... odd afterwards. I loaded a save, the game froze for around 30 seconds, then worked again, but with very low framerate and deformed graphics. I loaded other saves, other characters, same problem. I tried to make a new character, but no problem. Assuming I somehow corrupted my saves I deleted them all (I regret this now), but the first time I loaded my new character the same problem returned. It only happens when loading a save, but happens to any save.

On a strange moment of flickering intelligence, I decided to check the OBGE configuration from the menu. Firstly, the menu graphics are normal, as is the framerate when in the menus. When the OBGE menu opened, I noticed every single shader effect was active. I toggled them all off which corrected the graphics and framerate. Doing this allows me to play without any further problems, but it returns the next time I load a save again.

How to I make it so OBGE stops turning on all these shaders on load? Obviously, disabling OBGE altogether worked, but I would like to keep it ;)

If you use the OBGE support plugin, all shaders are automatically loaded. You can disable the support plugin and use your shaderlist.txt file to direct OBGE which shaders to load.

That is odd, I have always used the support plugin (added OBGEv2 in the middle of last year) and this only started happening yesterday. I have always loaded it last in my order too. If this always loads them all, why does it not normally distort all the graphics? I get the feeling I am missing something.

It only loads the shaders that you have installed. If you have added any extra, then that may be your problem.

No, I have not added anything new. It only started after removing Shezrie's Towns.

Shezrie's towns is quite an extensive mod, so it may be (and I'm guessing here) that a clean save was required when uninstalling. Some mods require this to prevent issues with your save game.

No, that is definitely not the issue. I have made new characters since removing it, and attempted to load saves from before I installed it. The issue occurs when loading *any* save game, but not when starting a new game. When I start a new game, OBGE only loads the shaders (the behaviour I had been experiencing prior to this), but when I load a save it loads *and* activates them.

Then there has to be a constant related to your saved games that you are overlooking. I can't help you there, because only you have that knowledge.
