LHammonds
Pity you won't be able to see most of the beautiful inscribing on the hilt when it's being held.Maybe not but same holds true in the real world...which is why you'd want a weapon display rack http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/9124-2-1193455998.jpg Of course, mine would be customized to hold the sword perfectly as a static display item...possibly with an activator switch to swap it with an empty case and add the weapon to my inventory. ;)

tatts24
@alex2uvs, Thank you but it's very unfortunate that this is as far as this particular sword will ever get. Last friday my computer crashed and would not go past the windows logo on start up. earlier today I went to the local pc dealer and explained my problem and the error i got with the crash. As it turns out, I had a bad hard drive and it could not be fixed. So I not only had to buy a new hard drive but I had to buy a whole new copy of windows as well. seeing as when I bought this pc, the copy of windows i got with the pc was an image file that was preloaded on the hard drive that crashed. The only really good news about this is that I am no longer using windows Vista but using windows 7 instead. not sure if it's any better though yet. I will be starting this project up again once I have reloaded the programs needed and all the resources I was working from refound. Even though looking at the pics of what I lossed just makes me want to rip my hair out and scream, I have spent a lot of hrs between Blender/Texture Maker/and Gimp to create the texture for this sword and it is a huge loss to me. However those long hrs also taught me a lot of useful techniques as well. And taught me that having an external hard drive to saved to will be a very good idea for any future projects I do. The_Vyper
*snip*Man, that sucks. I know how you feel. I worked on a mod for a little over a year and got to within a week of release, then BANG! Hard drive crash wiped out everything. I haven't had the heart to start from scratch. Now I put backups on an external hard drive and on 4shared. LHammonds
Ouch...I definitely feel your pain. Been there, done that. I created this tutorial to let others know about how to protect their data from various disasters and to minimize the risk. I have an extra hard drive in my computer for backups and two external drives. I use a sync program that copies all of my important data files (I keep them under a single folder such as E:\MyData\). It copies it automatically from one internal drive to another on a daily basis. I can then run the job to write to an external hard drive which I do about twice a month. After I write the data to the external hard drive, I then take it to work with me and then take the one I had at work (always one at my offsite location) back home for my next external backup and repeat the process of swapping the offsite drives. This protects all my valuable documents and media from a failed hard drive, a deep-fried power supply that fries the entire computer or even a fire or flood that destroys my entire home. tatts24
@LHammonds, with all my PC's in the past i've always had two hard drives for the same reason of backing up data. I bought this pc only a year ago, When I first turned it on, I reallized that it had two drives C: and D:. Needless to say that I was using D: for backup. As it turns out, it was actually ONE drive with two partitions. half the disc was dedicated to running the OS and the other half dedicated to storage. I was hoping that I may have been able to set it to a slave and see if I can atleast browse the drive and try to recover the files but there are no jumper blocks on this drive for me to set it to slave. Well there are two single pins parallel to each other with no block, but it is not labelled so I am not really sure what it is. I still have the drive so I may try and put a block on the two pins and see if that works, but I am not getting my hopes up. But on the good side, My pc is back up and running fine. I have already reloaded Blender and all the necessary programs and files needed for modding Oblivion. Plus I have reloaded both Fallouts and there G.e.c.k s sinse I plan to mod for them as well. I will be giving this sword another attempt sooner or later.
LHammonds
Having two drives in the same computer for backing up is only marginally better than none at all. That is typically only useful when you accidentally delete a file and you can easily restore it from the 2nd drive. For recovery from a physical failure, you need to have an external storage device which is not constantly plugged into the PC (cause if your PSU explodes, everything powered by the PC can get fried). I've had experience with bad drives before. If this is a mechanical drive, you have a possibility of a two-thirds chance to get the data back. I will assume it is not an OS issue to sticking it as a slave drive to try and access it without having to boot the OS on it is a very slim chance...but again, it completely depends on "what" is broke. If it is just the OS, then yes, this will work perfectly. If there are bad sectors on the platter, then you may be able to recover some of the data on the good sectors (slave drive works well in this situation). A great tool to repair data that exists in these bad sectors is called SpinRite. If the drive electronics card went bad, you can replace the board from another drive just like it. I was able to recover a drive like this but I had to buy an identical drive to get a good board. If the read/write heads were misaligned, it is possible it caused physical damage to the platter(s) from which you cannot recover. This scenario typically requires being sent off to a specialty lab that disassembles the case in a clean room and retrieves the data from the drive platters directly but this is EXTREMELY expensive and typically only viable for corporate lawyers and presidents that have vital data to their business. sankojin
Man, it has been a really long time since I first requested this mod. When I first requested this I was just getting started in learning how to do 3d models. It's been 6 years and I have come a long way. So I thought I would take a stab at finally making this sword. I have made a model for fallout 4 as that is the game I am currently playing. I do plan on releasing it for Skyrim and Skyrim sp soon. I know that tatts24 hasn't been on here in a really long time but I hope one day he can see this as I want him to see what I have done. For those that don't know the Duncan katana had 2 versions on the show. The first one was from season 1 till, about half way into season 2. In the second part of season 2 they switched out the look of the handle. The one that I have modeled is from season 1 as I think that one is way more awesome looking. As I do hope that Tatts24 will see this I would also like to hear from others on what they think. https://gyazo.com/f5496ca3bf1cffb07e19af0415ab09f8https://gyazo.com/685fd39dd2712d20efe6522c4affaeeahttps://gyazo.com/fcc08ecbde1cf6e4dc8161709217a230
