CTD when entering interiors

For some really strange, unexplainable reason, Oblivion crashes whenever I enter an interior cell. This includes planes of oblivion.

 

I've checked my mods lots of times. I've used Wrye Bash to rebuild my bashed patch several times, and it still crashes. I have removed about 2GB worth of mods from my Oblivion/Data folder, and deleted about 50 mods that I never used.

Still crashes.

 

I use Cava Obscura (more darkness in caves and ruins) and I removed it to see if it was the problem; Nope.

The very first thing you should do is to us BOSS to reorder your list. For any entries that may not be recognised by BOSS, use your userlist.txt to add them (read the help file on how to utilise the userlist).

 

Secondly, since your issue is only connected with interiors, I would be looking at these:

IWR is outdated. I suggest you use AWLS and All Natural real lights.

Streamline 3.0.esp (check your settings or temporarily disable)

Immersive Interiors - Lights Addon.esp

 

But use BOOS and rebuild your Bashed Patch first.

Ok, I disabled all IWR mods and applied All Natural Real Lights, and disabled Immersive Interiors - Lights addon.

I then used BOSS to re-order everything and then rebuilt the bashed patch.

 

Sadly, there is still crashing.

 

I have tried going into the oblivion gate (Kvatch) but it crashes as soon as I enter.

 

EDIT: I think you may have solved my interior problem, but the crashes persist in oblivion gates.

I guess I'll have to skip them with the console. :sad:

Ok, I now know that the problem is nothing to do with my RAM or performance. I used MemTest and increased my game performance to x2 speed. I was laughing at how fast it was loading!

Yet, on an interior/exterior or exterior/interior switch, there is a crash. I really have no idea what the problem is, but I reckon it's a mod.

 

I recently disabled Oblivion Stutter Remover because I thought it might have conflicted with Streamline, but the crashes still occur.

I replaced Streamline 3.0 with Streamline 2.1 because posts say that 2.1 is more stable and causes less crashes.

 

Crashes still occur. :(

 

I have also used OBMM's conflict detecter to see conflicts with mods. It's hard to tell if any conflict with each other because about half conflict with the Bashed Patch.

 

Should I disable the bashed patch?

 

EDIT: I forgot to mention at the start, I have the evil Vista. That is a prominent source of destruction.

 

EDIT 2: I reverted OBSE 20 beta 5 back to OBSE 19. I had a HUGE performance increase and less crashes, but it still crashes frequently.

It usually stutters before crashing when I am playing randomly, but when I change from int to ext cells; the screen just turns black and then CTD.

Before you go any further, please do NOT use OBMM's conflict detector or any other feature of OBMM except for creating/installing OMODs and extracting/creating bsa files. The conflict detector and everything else in OBMM is useless -- do NOT disable your Bashed Patch, but please DO use BOSS, as your load order is incorrect, and some mergable files are not merged (rebuild your Bashed Patch after using BOSS).

 

I am also baffled by what you said about increasing your game speed with MemTest. Isn't that just a RAM checker? :unsure:

Ok. I won't use OBMM from now on.

 

I will use BOSS again and rebuild the bashed patch again, and tell you about the results.

I don't get "mergable files". How do you merge files into the bashed patch?

 

MemTest may be just a RAM tester, but after I have used it, my computer's physical memory goes way lower. (May just be a Vista thing?)

 

Also, what about OBSE 19 compared to OBSE 20?

I had more crashes with 20 than 19.
