hoellenfeuer1
Hi, I am still using Windows xp home and need some advice concerning optimization of the load order. As far as I know, LOOT would not work. I have installed BOSS, but after starting BOSS, this happens:BOSSVersion 2.3.0SummaryLog Feature SupportFiltersError: masterlist update failed.Details: Git operation failed. Error: 4294967295; Failed to send request: Das Format der empfangenen Nachricht war unerwartet oder fehlerhaft.Critical Error: ".\Skyrim\masterlist.txt" cannot be found!Check the Troubleshooting section of the ReadMe for more information and possible solutions.Utility will end now. I am new to modding and help would really be appreciated. Which program can/should I use ? Thx for your response. raatorotta
You must find old version of BOSS and also old masterlist file for it. Doesn't work with new mods, but what can you do, not many programs support Xp anymore. You can also try find tutorial how to sort mods yourself in Wyre bash or something. It's usually similar loadorder. Usually sound mods come first if I'm correct. But look it up.
obobski
LOOT 0.5.0 and older will also work in XP (according to their documentation); support for XP was removed in 0.6.0. Manually sorting load order would also be possible depending on how many mods and so forth that you're dealing with.
MotoSxorpio
To expand on manual sorting: When manually installing one must take care with mods that are in loose files, as these mods have a potential of overriding any other mod, depending on when you install.Example. (for the sake of this example, and lack of game name in OP, will be Skyrim based)I have three mods. Two mods are loose file based, and "require" NMM or BAIN to "install". One mod changes only one set of armor, while the other loose file mod changes the appearance of all Vanilla armors. The last mod is bsa packed. I want the smaller mod to be priority, so I install it last because the loose files will override the larger loose file mod. For more information regarding Load Order and how it works, visit this thread http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/583662-important-load-order-and-you/ If you cannot use LOOT/BOSS, a combination of Wrye Bash (or NMM or MO)-for sorting and installing- and TES5Edit-for troubleshooting and editing- can move you along nicely with some learning. hoellenfeuer1
Hi and thx for your answers. I´m not only new to modding but to these forums as well, so I opened this topic here and after that in the Skyrim forums. Sry about that. So far I have installed the latest version of Boss with an old masterlist I have found, the latter I had to add manually. The program works now. Today I have also downloaded TES5Edit. I am already working with NMM. I´ll find out about your other suggestions. I have just started learning about all this last Sunday and today I have to play (just bought Skyrim in the beginning of this month) :-). Have to watch some more instructions on youtube within the next days.
