OK, in the construction set, i just CAN'T SAVE ANYMORE! :-( It's ridiculous! Unless i start a new mod entirely, it won't save. I can load up mods i've previously made and saved, and i can load up the "esp"s of mods i've downloaded, and i can make any changes I want. But when i try to save it's always the same thing! the same message always pops up: "Unable to complete operation due to failure removing previous file. Temp file remains. Continue playing?" No matter whether i press yes or no, the information/changes NEVER F*CKING SAVE! Help, please!! :-( All responses greatly appreciated. Thanks, all!

First of all, you always have to load the mod you're trying to edit as the active file.

All the mods where you're getting the resources from have to be double-clicked, but not set as active files.

How exactly do you load your mods?

I do everything normally, as far as I can tell. I double click oblivion, and of curse double click any esp i want to use features from (although i do that rarely). And i set no more than one esp at a time as my active file. So, long story short, i double click oblivion and set one other esp as "active".

My guess is that you are victim of the dreaded Win 7/Vista UAC. Solution? Uninstall Oblivion and reinstall it OUTSIDE of the protected 'Program Files' folder structure, somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion .

A reinstall isn't really that hard, and does not have to lose your mods or save games. It just takes a little time to do it right.

Just turning UAC off will leave you open to certain virus activity - with UAC off, the first thing they do is shut down your antivirus and firewall - then invite their friends over for a party at your expense. UAC is intended to keep that kind of change from happening. And is NOT needed for games. However, turning it off temporarily for testing probably won't hurt as long as you are not already infected and you don't go web surfing while its off.

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.

Are you running Vista?

Try opening the Construction Set by running it as an administrator. I've seen this problem before, it is almost certainly UAC related as Hickory stated, but running as admin usually fixes it without having to reinstall the game.

That being said, if you have Oblivion in the Program Files folder you may want to bite the bullet and reinstall anyway, because that's going to end up causing other problems down the road even if you can fix this one easily.

I just tried the running as administrator method. It's working. :-) Thanks, all!
