Elder Scrolls Online

I agree with above - so no one else could take it.

If I had something as sucessful as TES I'd snatch up the domain names, especially with the net being a highly popular playground.

But - zomg - it just boggles the mind what could be done with an TES online, and how many different ways it could ruin the game "feel".

lol you'd never be truly finished with it..."sorry kids, you can't go to college. I'm lvl 450 online and ...well...I just don't like you as much as my mage"

of course if they start now I could get it for my 50th birthday and play with a VR headset maybe? (that's funnier when you know I'm only 35 now) I'd totally plugin to play it lol

It would be cool, maybe. Only thing is when would it take place? In the far future (to not screw up new games) or in a time that's already passed? If they made it right after Skyrim... I don't think that would work very good.

ZeniMax (owners of beth) are making a MMO, if it is in the elder scrolls world (most likely is) or not are unknown. but this is known a MMO is being made and the team making ISNT todd's team they're busy finishing skyrim and working on fallout 4

source: http://www.zenimax.com/zol_pressrelease08.01.07.htm

who says he only has one team? They have clearly stated in a court case that they have been working on this since 2007 a "World of warcraft" type game and that game will be using the Hero engine. When they were making fallout 3 they were already planning their next game elder scrolls V: Skyrim. It would be nonsense to think they aren't planning

their next game as we speak. Imagine, an elder scrolls mmorpg without Todd Howard and Pete Hines.. wouldn't happen and I am positive this is what they are doing.

He's right bro, Bethesda has stated more than once that they will continue making single player games. Zenimax made an official announcement that they are developing a Bethesda owned IP. If Beth has anything to do with Zenimax's project it's very likely that it goes no further than a consultative relationship. The only way Todd could possibly oversee both projects is if they were in the same building which we know they are not.

I was really hoping that Zenimax was making Fallout Online as i believe that FO's setting fits an MMO better than TES's but ultimately it doesn't matter to me because i wouldn't play either one of them.

The thing about MMOs today is the fact that they all have the same theme - DnD, WoW, Lotro. All are elves and orcs and battles, but they each bring a unique atmosphere to the genre. I personally play Lotro because it is free, and because many of my friend play too. An MMO Elder Scroll game would just be another option to people if they don't like the others.

Really I just don't see this happening. It may be cool and awesome idea, but the reality is more maintenance and time consumption from other games. Lotro usually update every three or four months, Old republic (losing hope) is taking forever and a day to come out. MMO games are a huge step to greater things but the people may not be in the same waiting boat for MMO or another game. Take Skyrim, I literally thought they were done with the series after Oblivion became game of the year, and because of how it and Fallout: NV were very criticized after release even tho they were very popular. An MMO TES game would take a long time in the making, and would probably be consuming so much time that other great games would be pushed back.

Everyone has their own opinion about the MMO subject. I would play it and see if were good and lore accurate, and for the names sake! BUT, I do not hope and trust in a MMO TES to come out.

I would like to see it not happen. I feel like an MMO would ruin Elder Scrolls and it would make ZeniMax and Bethesda seem like sellouts to the money farm that are MMOs.

Only if they stopped making the single player game in order to exclusively make multi-player like Blizzard. That won't happen though as has been stated. They will both exist and while the MMO doesn't appeal to us it does appeal to many others.

If they did make an MMO there would need to be a lot of gear and make it epic looking. Lots of spells and mounts and all that good stuff. Then they would need to make a story that would really immerse you into the world instead of being some other guy. Add some races or something. I don't want two factions but that seems to be the only way to go. Although they might be able to make 3, I don't know lore but I think there might be a third possibility with an expasions(add shivering isles)

As much as I cringe at the thought of TES going MMO I do think that it could possibly work out alright. I would like to see them set it during the interim between Oblivion and Skyrim. That gap is untouched by their other gams and would not interfere with new ones. Additionally lots of factions can come into play here, the Dunmer warring against one another, the Empire crumbling even as it attempts to stop Black Marsh and Elseweyre's seccession. Argonians overruning Morrowind and conquering. Definately potential for more than just two factions, granted for it to work properly it would take an immense amount of time. Just with all the world space needing to be built let alone the complexity that comes with 3+ factions if you're trying to maintain immersion. I don't know that I'd ever play a TES MMO, personally I agree with Worm that Fallout's setting is much more condusive to an MMO than TES, but so long as Beth/Zeni don't abandon their most loyal fans, the single player RPers, I'm alright with it I guess.
