ub3rman123
Personally I think Palin would be a funny president. Scary, though. We need a president who knows what they're doing, not an amusing one.

Flamethrower
The following post is going to be a bit off topic, but I guess I feel I have to reply. Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize pissed me off REALLY bad. Hes a damn commander in chief and a politician and he wins a prize just for SAYING stuff? A lot of other people got stripped from that prize just because some politician said a bunch of crap... I can't even post how much I hated that... I'm afraid I have to reply to this myself, but just to say that I agree and stretching this discussion will lead to sooo much off-topic-ness, that I had to use three o's in "so". There is a lot more people deserving of the Nobel prize, like Tomo Kriznar, who along with... *goes off on an off-topic discussion* *looks up referundum on google* Well, here is what it says about referendums in American Government(I used Wikipedia because I was too lazy to look up a more legit source).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referendum#United_States There is no provision for the holding of referendums at the federal level in the United States; indeed, there is no national electorate of any kind. The United States constitution does not provide for referendums at the federal level. A constitutional amendment would be required to allow it. However, the constitutions of 24 states (principally in the West) and many local and city governments provide for referendums and citizen's initiatives. The most famous U.S. state initiatives are probably California's Proposition 13, which severely limited property taxes, and the Massachusetts "initiative petition" equivalent from 1980, Proposition 2½, which severely limited income tax increases. They are especially popular in modifying state constitutions. Hence, Obama has to get at least 50% of congress to agree with him on anything. Given that Republicans currently hold the majority of the seats in Congress, and (according to left-leaning political commentators) that Republicans tend to vote along party lines, this makes it hard for many major issues to get passed. *sigh*. It's amazing how the US government is... stiff. I mean, the whole political system is just so weird. Though, there is a global problem, politicians mainly work with two guidelines: 1) "Along their party lines" as you said. If you are in the left, you MUST act (vote) as your party demands.2) For themself. I don't mean dictators, but people who simply leech their own country, helping her get on her knees... this is the case in my country. Also, two things: democracy. The definition of democracy is smudged, thanks to America, for the most part. In ancient times only free men could vote, actually vote and he who got the majority won. Another form of democracy is when a peasent (farmer) became a duke (prince), in the principality of Carantania. The other is how there are too many politicians and too little statesman (if I got the terms right). One acts only for their party, the other for the good of their country.I won't go on, lest I go WAY too much into the off-topic zone. So, just to get a bit back on the saddle: Despite everything, Donald Trump is defined as succesful. For some reason, I think business (wo)men run countries better. Vagrant0
i feel we need to STOP ELECTING IDIOTS!we Americans are royaly screwing the poochI sure hope you're including congress (and maybe some governors) in that statement. Although to be fair, most of the non-action of recent congress is related more to party BS, manipulation of the public, and backroom scheming than idiocy, but it is idiocy that allows people to throw away common good and prosperity for a quick buck or being able to write off the gold toilets for their summer home (not literally gold toilets, but same sentiment) to tax payers. I mean seriously... Adding in a stipulation to the healthcare bill to pay for erection drugs for sex offenders just to try and kill the bill? That's both stupid and disgusting politics at work. Jiggalopuff
Despite everything, Donald Trump is defined as succesful. For some reason, I think business (wo)men run countries better. Trump is successful at making money, and presumably other skills involved in doing so(E.G. negotiating, leadership). Business does involves a lot of "politics"(E.G. dealing with difficult people in order to get what you want, giving other people what they want so they quit bothering you), so therefore it is likely that a lot of that would translate into politics. Anyway, as I am sure Ben Kenobi and possibly a few of the other older members of the forum remember, Donald Trump's financial Empire was on the brink of collapse in the early 90s. Somehow, he managed to turn his finances around and become the person that we know today. Hopefully if he is elected he might be able to do the same thing with The United State's situation. As far as my knowledge of history goes, wealthy business men generally make poor political candidates. Case in point would be the Rockefellers and William Randolf Hearst. marharth
Someone close to the business establishment is the last person you want in the white house... Leadership skills don't matter if your bought by lobbyists, and if your close to the establishment you are bought by lobbyists.
