ArchMageMatt
When I clicked the link to ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated from the Underground Hideout mod on the Fallout Nexus, it took me to one of those fake "Your computer is infected with viruses! Scanning for two seconds... 1000 viruses detected!" messages. When I tried to ex-out of the page it kept trying to stop me. I don't know if that was an ad on the site or what... just reporting what happened.

Thandal
Just happened to be in the FO3 files section, so I tried to duplicate this behavior, but everything worked normally. This is the link to the mod: "Underground Hideout". Edited February 14, 2011 by Thandal typos.
bben46
Those fake antivirus viruses are some of the nastiest around - and difficult to get rid of. The first thing they do - if you have UAC turned off, is disable your real antivirus, then call over their big brother to help trash your machine while they scan for credit card numbers. Turn it off. Unplug it from the internet - if you have wifi disable that until you are ready to disinfect it. My own solution - a rescue CD - Boot from the rescue disk and not your virius ridden hard drive - it boots a Linux system and scans the hard drive from the CD drive or a bootable USB stick. Here is a source for several different Antivirus rescue disks: http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootable-antivirus-rescue-cds-download-list/ If you are not infected, go ahead and create one now to save time when you are. Pick the antivirus you like, save it to a friends computer as an ISO, then use almost any CD burner to burn the program onto a CD - then use that CD to boot your infected computer. You will want Internet access turned ON for this as they all automatically update their antivirus database with the newest when they run.
ArchMageMatt
It didn't actually infect my computer, because I exed out of everything and left as quickly as possible... also, how do you take a screenshot of a website?
evilneko
The PrintScreen button will capture the entire screen to the clipboard. You can open Paint (or other paint-like program) and paste it in, then save it, preferably as a jpg. Of course, there are third-party screen capture utilities as well. The last freeware version of one of the better ones, FastStone Capture, can be obtained here. Irfanview, a popular image viewer/editor, also has a screen capture tool built in, though since it's not a dedicated screen capture program it's a bit more clumsy to use. DrakenGuard
I had a few similar experiences, I took this screenshot and sent it to the Staff to anylise. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/images/15568-1-1297738183.jpg It was my AVG that stopped it thank god. FastBlackCat
I had one of those hi-jacker programs attempt to grab me yesterday on the Dragon Age Nexus site, and again while in this forum just now. It presents itself as a Windows Microsoft program, won't let you go unless you completely shut down the internet page, and it's pretty nasty if it gets installed. This time my AVG caught it, saying it was a " 'wwwl.gosin-save.in/osclol?' exploit rogue scanner (type 1883)'.
