Wolven10
So I've been doing a fresh install of Skyrim ever since I had to replace my old computer, and one of the things I needed to redownload is SKSE. But whenever I start Skyrim, I get a message in the upper left corner that says "SKSE 1.7.2 ref 47," and none of my MCM menus will appear.I tried installing the beta 1.7.3, but all I got was the message "SKSE 1.7.3 ref 48"
ibble
Ensure you are installing it correctly. exe and dll files in your core skyrim folder. MopeyDolphin
I recently returned to skyrim to find that my SKSE scripts were out of date. I tried to fix this by adding SKSE scripts but when I started the game, the message telling me my scripts were out of date disappeared but mods that require SKSE such as SkyUI still don't work. I believe I am using the latest version of SKSE and also have no access to the MCM menu either. I am still a novice at modding and could really use some help! ibble
Your game need to be updated to the latest version (1.9) to run latest version of SKSE. I feel as though this is the primary problem people have with SKSE, besides installing it correct. You need to install SKSE into two different locations in your skyrim install folder. 1. Do not treat SKSE as a regular mod. (Do not install with NMM)2. Download SKSE to your regular download folder.3. Unzip it to its own folder in your downloads.4. Locate your skyrim install folder: like e:/games/skyrim5. Copy the two dll files and the exe file from SKSE folder to your skyrim folder. (overwrite any existing)6. Copy the Scripts folder in SKSE folder to your e:/games/skyrim/data folder (NOT THE SAME FOLDER AS ABOVE). (overwrite any existing)7. Run the game by double clicking skse_loader, which is the exe file you have copied in step 5. You can delete the folder that will be left in your downloads after copying over the files. In the SKSE folder there is a readme.txt that also explain how to install. There may be uninstallation requirements when upgrading. I have no experience with that sorry. Trying to run a skyrim that was installed in your computer two years ago is just not a good idea. Reinstall with all the latest patches and DLC's. Making shortcut to start skyrim with SKSE: Richt-click-drag skse_loader onto your desktop to create a shortcut. Rick click the shortcut > properties, choose change icon, browse, to your skyrim install folder, select tesv.exe or tesvlauncher.exe and accept. you now have default skyrim icon on your skse shortcut. LOOT, the must have failsafe tool need to be installed in a similar manner. Get these basic tools in place to greatly ease end enrich your skyrim modding experience. (playing with mods really do require a bit more than just installing mods with NMM) May sound complicated, but it's really not. megageeklizzy
Last I checked, SkyUI is broken by the latest SKSE. I actually had to revert to an older SKSE to get it to work right. MCM menus require a working SkyUI as well as SKSE, so this might be your problem.

If so, how do I do that? I used Gopher's video to install and am not sure how to uninstall
