Rage912
Hey guys/girls Im back! I just wanted to make a quick post about Frames Per Second(FPS).Not many people know this but my FPS completly sucks  . If you look at the pics in my mods they look like really low quality. My computer is not even ment for gamin but my passion for FNV is to much. Before today I was only getting an average of 5-8 FPS when I played FNV. I dont know what happend today but I installed a couple of mods and my FPS shot up to about an average of 16-20. I know thats not a lot to most people on this site but thats a loot for me. Im suprised my computer can even handel High res textures and the texture quaility to HIGH without a lag. All I want to know is how much FPS do you get when you play New Vegas and if there is anything I can do to make my FPS better without getting a new computer. I always wanted an Alien Ware but my family does not have enough money to buy one so until then Im stuck with 16-20 FPS.
Netwit2008
I have a pretty good rig, but still experienced trouble with CTD in NV, especially after playing for 4 hours straight. It got to the point I could almost tell time by that 4 hour crash. Then I got the NV Stutter Remover mod and instantly had better performance. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34832 In this mod, your FPS is kept around 30 intentionally. It's part of the program. I don't notice any quality drop, but the game is much more stable at a consistent 30 FPS. If you haven't checked it out, it's definitely worth a look. Low FPS is a pain! But now with about 100 mods running, as I said, things run much smoother even past the 4 hour mark. Doesn't fix everything, some quests/areas are just buggy and crash anyway. But who knows, this mod might help you too. My "go to" guy at Microcenter showed me another computer that doesn't look as flashy as Alienware, but he said had better performance and was cheaper. I always wanted an Alienware too, but he said it's all flash, there are better machines out there, that are way cheaper. Welcome back btw ;)
Daynox
On average my FPS sit around 40, if im in a casino packed with people from mods it drops to around 25-30. im running most of the high end texture packs and graphic increasing mods as well. I built a high end system so i can push it to the max...its all overclocked to hell as well. as for Alienware? dont waste your money!! all your paying for is the name, you can built a real decent gaming pc for a fraction of the cost of an alienware system. A couple years ago a buddy of mine was all proud that he bought one...until i built one from scatch, with the same components for just over Half of what he payed! heck...my $300 compaq laptop plays FO at an average of 25 fps.... A decent gaming pc can cost even less if you buy everything and build it yourself as well...its really not that hard, and fun to do as well. You can even buy a Barebones and go from there... I dont know why but earlier today I was getting about 75 FPS when I was in my New Vegas Main Menu? I thought you could only have a max of 60? My FPS also shot up to 27 before I installed the mod. I dont know why my FPS keeps going up? About the computer, what is it called and where can I find it? I really need a better computer.

DaynoxI would try that but I dont really know how to build a computer from scratch. Not to mention if I could get it to get good graphics?
Fatalmasterpiece
It's much simpler than people make it out to be. The only scary part is installing your own processor, which I'm always worried about bending pins with, but I've done it several times and never had a problem. As long as you research compatibility of your hardware everything is quite literally just plug into the right slot and go. There's no programing or advanced knowledge required. Daynox
The only scary part is installing your own processor, which I'm always worried about bending pins ya thats pretty well the only thing you really need to worry about. Years ago i picked up an issue of PC magazine, and on the disc that came with it was a full video tutorial on building a pc from scratch, that is what i used to build my first pc...and have been building them ever since. Ive even gotten into building my own cases (free sheet metal from work and cut on plasma and laser) As long as you research compatibility of your hardware everything is quite literally just plug into the right slot and go a little reaserch always helps as well  but like Fatal says, it really is simpler that what some people make it out as. And that is kinda where a BareBones system comes into play. You get everything you need to build the system, no research on parts neccessary...all you have to do is put it together, install an OS and your good to go. There are many, many different kinds of barebone kits out there, from low to super high end. It all depends on what you want to use it for i guess. Daynox
Floatsup
How do you actually check your frame here? That would be nice to know, but Im probable getting descent amounts, except at Mclarren entrence in. I get aweful stutters there. Happened even before I put any mods into the game.
Daynox
How do you actually check your frame here there are console commands that can display your FPS but they seen to be disabled in NV. Fraps is another option, the basic version of fraps is free and do the basics..display your FPS, take screenshots and 30 sec clips of video. I just picked it up but now im thinkin of getting the full version just for the hell of it. Daynox

If there are any other ways to record without FRAPS I would love to know.
