Daledge
Well for some reason my game doesn't pick up 7z and omod files when I put them into the directory thing but it picks up .esp's so I have three questions: 1) Do you do anything else to 7z or omod files? 2) Does anyone know why this is the case. 3) Can you convert 7z and omods to .esp's? If yes, how?
Hickory
1) Yes, you have to extract 7z files (they are like zip files). Download and install 7zip (free). OMOD files are Oblivion Mod Manager archive files. You have to install Oblivion Mod Manager, then place the OMOD files in your \Oblivion\obmm\mods\ folder. 2) See above. 3) No you cannot. Esp files are game plugin files, the others are archive files.

Daledge
Does it matter which 7-zip to download? It says there's two types; .exe and .msi.
bben46
If you have a 32 bit windows version, get the exe. If you have a 64 bit windows version get the msi. If you are not sure, go with the exe it will work on most systems.
Daledge
Ya I went for the .exe, and tried a 7z Mod, worked perfectly. Thanks!
KaneMcBane
really so winrar wont work, i have to use 7zip?
Surilindur
WinRAR can extract .7z files just fine, at least the current version(s) can. However 7-Zip is free, so if someone needs a program to extract 7z archives, and does not have anything that can do it yet, that someone would probably appreciate a completely free alternative.
