ElricOfGrans
I have recently installed Chingari and Ismelda's Demon Race. The race appears in the race menu, the textures work fine, the OBSE extras work fine, the hair options all appear... but for some reason, only the eyes do not work. Instead of a selection of demonic eyes, I get five vanilla eyes (Blue, Green, Brown, Dark Elf and Dremora). I install the race, the cosmetic pack, the claw pack, the horn pack, the tattoo pack and both installing and not installing the Elaborate Eyes pack. I do all this with OBMM, then sort with BOSS. I have tried NOT importing these sections, and not importing ANYTHING into the Races section to no avail. I have tried moving Demon Race down to immediately before the Bashed Patch to no avail. I found that moving it to AFTER the Bashed Patch allows the eyes to appear correctly in the race menu, but I immediately observed odd behaviour with many other mods (probably not unexpected). Out of interest, I created a character like this, put the esp back where it should be, rebuilt the Bashed Patch and loaded the character. Doing this caused the eyes to glitch out. I have tried doing a complete reinstall of Oblivion and my mods, which did not resolve this. The issue happens with both genders, which is probably the expected behaviour. EDIT: wrong word. LordEmm
The Bashed Patch is a great help, but not perfect. All it does is make sure there are no conflicts, but overrides still happen. By actually merging the race into the Bashed Patch it probably overrides the eyes and hair data for the race and takes what is common for other races (although technically that should not happen). My solution would be to not merge it into the Bashed Patch at all, since the Demon Race does not conflict with any other race (and provides their own set of eyes and hairs). Race Relations is unnecessary because Demom Race doesn't even have any defined. There also are no NPCs in this mod, so NpcFaces is superfluous as well. Simply leave it out of the Patch, regenerate the BP and that should help. If you want to use other eyes and hairs from, your ethereal eyes/Cobl mods you need to first make sure that EE uses the same eye mesh as Demon Races (i am guessing Demon Races uses Nequam, but it provides their own mesh too). I always use Tes4Edit to make my merges (Bash patch for the tedious stuff like leveled item lists and cobl item distribution), because it allows me to immediately see what i should and should not merge. Then you can add all the hairs and eyes you want...
ElricOfGrans
The first thing I thought of was not merging it to see what happens, but this resulted in no change. I do not want to use other eyes with this mod, and it already includes (slightly) more hair options than I had with my other mods so I could not merge any others in. Hickory
I have to ask, but did you download and install the cosmetic pack that comes with the race? Never mind: I re-read your original post. Sorry.
ElricOfGrans
I believe I may have found something. As I was trying out various ideas, I reread the Wrye Bash manual and came across this:When adding a custom race, use either only vanilla eyes, or only custom eyes. I.e. do not mix custom eyes and vanilla eyes. If you mix vanill eyes and custom eyes, and if the race is playable, then bash will filter down to just the vanilla eyes. When I have Demon Race before the Bashed Patch, I only get five vanilla eyes; when it is after, I get those eyes and several custom ones. It sounds likely this is the culprit. To test, I have disabled the Race Records step in the Bashed Patch and was able to keep the race where BOSS put it and still see the full list of eye options for it. On a quick check, I did not observe anything wrong with other races in CharGen, though I obviously could not check every NPC quickly. Should it be safe to play without this step, or should I look for a better solution?
AxelDominatoR
@ElricOfGrans: if you follow these steps below, we may be able to find the conflicts and help you more. 1) Download TES4Edithttp://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11536 2) Open it and load every mod in your active list. Select everything.3) After everything is loaded, right click on a file (it does not matter which) from the tree list and select "Apply filter"4) Check "by conflict status overall" and check every voice in the subframe.5) Check "by conflict status for this particular record" and check every voice in the subframe6) Check "Conflict status inherited by parent"7) Everything else should be unchecked. Now, as soon as you click apply the entire list will start to filter. This will require some time, so have patience and wait. When the entire filtering process is finished, you will have the tree list full of nice colors :)Now, select the DemonRace.esp from the list and expand it. You will see red entries (you may find both red background and red text color ).These are the conflicting voices. By clicking on each of them you will be able to see which other mods are conflicting with it. With TES4Edit you may be able to edit the conflicts, creating a sort of "personal bashed patch".It takes a little bit of practice, but then it becomes an invaluable tool. I use a little private patch, loaded last in order, for things which Bashed is not able to merge properly.Let us know which mods are overwriting! ElricOfGrans
I have just tried running TES4Edit with the settings as described. I checked *almost* everything, but I left out some `merge only' files (eg Cobl Item Iterchange) which would not work if checked. There was nothing red listed under Demon Race.esp. Almost all sections were black text on a white background. One item was yellow text on a pink(?) background: Light section, `SpellILightSpellMedium', conflicting with All Natural - Real Lights and Midas Spells (and Oblivion itself, so I guess it is a default variable or something). I would be willing to bet this is unrelated. A useful lesson none the less, which I can definitely apply in future. Thank you for teaching me! AxelDominatoR
Go to your Oblivion Data folder. Then open "Meshes", then "Characters".Do you see a "Demon Eyes" folder in there?Looking at the .esp internals I see every demon eye should be in that folder. For example, a path is:"Characters\Demon Eyes\SlitEyes\rvghs1_02.dds"Now, you should make sure when you extract the demon eyes pack, that the .dds files are in the right folder."Characters\Demon Eyes\SlitEyes\" in the case of rvghs1_02.dds Can you confirm the .dds files are installed in the right folder? "Characters\Demon Eyes\" for standard eyes and "Characters\Demon Eyes\SlitEyes\" for addon eye pack, I think.
