ssj2nova
Anybody know a mod that lets you write your own books? That would be really cool to add to my library. (I collect books)
SothThe69th
I don't know of one that would let you write your own books, but it certainly wouldn't be difficult to create it in the editor. I just have to wonder how long it will be before Trogdor the Burninator makes his literary appearance.

ThetaOrionis01
Writing your own books is really easy and is done in the editor - you don't need a mod. Load the Morrowind esm into the editor. In the objects window, click the books tab. This gives you a list of all the books in Morrowind. Double click any book - this opens the window for that particular book. On the left hand side you find the stats - ID, weight, nif etc, - on the right hand side is the book text. Copy or make a note of the html tags eg <DIV ALIGN="CENTER"etc> - you will need these tags to make the text appear in the ingame book. The book editor does not support all html tags, so stick with the most basic - change alignment, font (the MW default font is MAGIC CARDS - check the html file in the bookart folder in your data files for more information), size etc. To start a new book, right click on the book list and select new. Give your book its stats, then enter the text. Make sure you use the tags to specify alignment, font etc. At the end of your text put a <BR> tag - without it I couldn't get text to show up ingame. Save, and you've got your book. If you want to be lazy and save yourself a little effort, open up an existing book, change the ID and title and replace the text between the html tags. When saving the editor will ask you if you want to create a new object with the new ID. Say yes, and you've got a book without having to select nifs etc. For scrolls, tick the scrolls in the book editor, and select an appropriate nif & tga. To add a bookskill, just select one from the list in the 'teaches' box. I think that's pretty much it - all you have to do then is place your book ingame, and test. You know how complicated that sounds to people like me who have trouble placeing objects with the editor? I see no reason why we can't just write books or notes in game. the00phoenix
You know how complicated that sounds to people like me who have trouble placeing objects with the editor? I see no reason why we can't just write books or notes in game.Typing and editing your text via the TES editor has one big advantage over your proposed in-game variant, namly you can share your prose with other morrowind players (otherwise you`d have to share your savegame ;) ). However, I`ve got a different question concerning the bookart folder and images in books. I used the HTML-code of a standart morrowind writ (which displays the Morag Tong seal) and altered the IMG part to fit my needs (changed height, width and src according to the values of my picture - size values are <= 200 px, picture is stored in the bookart folder). While test-reading the book, all it showed was a white box in the size of my picture. I tried different file typs (bmp, tga, jpg) and even saved them with an alpha channel for transparency, without success. Are there any limitations or issues I didn`t consider? Please help! Malchik
I'm afraid that the addition to the thread topic does not seem to justify reopening it and I consider it necromancy. And then to proceed on a different topic is what is called thread hijacking. I am locking this thread. Phoenix please post again as a new topic with a suitable title.
