Let's apply some simple logic to this.

1) Creating a new engine - Creating a new engine takes an unholy amount of time. The developers spent 7 years creating Morrowind, most of which went to the game engine. Seeing as how I'd like to see Cyrodiil one day and the rumor mill says that Summerset Isles are up next, they're already creating a new engine. It will be called the TESVI engine and will rock the house. However, creating a new engine for Morrowind would be stupid.

2) It would cost them lots of money, but it might not sell. - It would sell. A bazillion people play Morrowind, and most clamor for a functionable version for online or LAN play. I would buy it.

3) They could charge for service and make lots of money. - This almost sounds like a ringing endorsement for being a corporate ho. Don't be that guy.

Um... No.

Gets my vote for "Best Response" in a "Wouldn't MW as MMPORPG/MW as LAN Be Cool" thread. Ever.

What he said. Basically, multiplayer is not going to happen, any time in the near future. TESVI is still several years away, and there's only a slim chance that will have the option.

Ok, can someone refer me to the topic where it is stated how uncool Morrowind would be with multiplayer? Understandably it seems to be a sore subject, but why on earth wouldn't you want to adventure together with your LAN buddies? Dungeon Siege, one of the crappier rpg's out there, was a blast to play in LAN if only for one evening. Morrowind allows a measure of actual roleplaying and it seems to me that it would be a treat for a group of people willing to take it seriously (completely hypothetical, admittedly).

I've long since found out that multiplayer Morrowind is impossible (a friend translated that dutch thread, they said they'd release a mod by Sept 23, my guess is it's a joke) and making a MWMMORPG would be ridiculous, however I've yet to see a decent multiplayer rpg at all. Isn't a LAN party the next logical step from pen and paper games of yore ? (Sorry, Neverwinter Nights doesn't cut it.)
