DoctorKaizeld
Downloaded Loot 8 all excitedly and when I went to open it, I got a blank screen. Is there any trouble shooting procedure that I can use to make it run? Hope I still have LOOT 6 in my downloads. Is using the Chrome browser the cause? dude start your own thread... or go to the LOOT forums and ask them about it.
saurusmaximus
Funny, I was pondering starting a similar topic. The reason being was I was having some stability issues a while back and just for S&G, tried sorting with LOOT (I've always done it manually before, using this as a guide). It didn't do anything for my stability, but I did notice a definite uptick in my load times. So much for that. Going back to the OP: yes, I do think it's a good tool, especially for those who are new at this, it's better than nothing at any rate. But, as you pointed out, those of us who have been at this a while and have large load orders and merged plugins, not so much.
Deleted133263User
Downloaded Loot 8 all excitedly and when I went to open it, I got a blank screen. Is there any trouble shooting procedure that I can use to make it run? Hope I still have LOOT 6 in my downloads. Is using the Chrome browser the cause? On the LOOT home page http://loot.github.io/ Click the link to the FAQs ( in the sentence under the Download button )Pretty sure there is mention of blank screen problems there But also if that does not help ( I think the FAQ was to do with Internet Explorer anyway ) .. Upgrading from such an old version as 0.6 is probably going to be problematic with the new version not reading old settings files well So delete all the settings files etc in :C: \ Users \ <Username> \ Appdata \ Local \ LOOT \ <<-- Delete everything in here ( Replace <Username> above with your windows account name ) ( You may have to enable being able to see Hidden files and folders, in Windows Control Panel Folder settings ) There were a few times when deleting everything while beta testing old versions and snapshot updates that a clean out of those files solved quite a few problems .. Between official updates, running the uninstaller before running the new installer could help too .. But a new development is Wrinkly had to change from the old NSIS installer ( hosted on sourceforge which nobody wants to touch anymore ), to something called the INNO installer .. Unfortunately with that change the Installer lost its ability to clean out old user files at install time .. So TL:DR just delete those appdata files and fire up the new version, see if that works. Any further problems : Report them here http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1519842-rel-loot-thread-19/( But note .. Wrinkly is off to Canada on holiday for about three weeks ) Edited July 23, 2015 by Guest
jones177
I view tools like loot a little differently than most.Like a lot of people in this thread I have been modding Bethesda games for a long time. I know how to do my load list without aid.Running Loot is like someone knowledgeable in arranging load lists coming over to your house & arranging your load list the way they like it. Skyrim is going to be a little different & that's a good thing. Later
Roscaria
If you need an older copy of LOOT then you can find it here. https://github.com/loot/loot/releases
Roscaria
I do find LOOT useful, although it took me a while to figure out how to do the drag and drop for mod patches. I still do not apply LOOT if I consider it incorrect, and so far have had no problems. I also use the TES5Edit as a double check as well.
Dovakiin3918
My LOOT works fine and works wonderfully together with TES5edit for cleaning plugins. Yesterday I played about 14 hours straight without a single CDT. Remember, some mods don't have all the kinks worked out of them yet, or, there isn't enough information(or the information is vague or not thorough enough), so try those mods, and if they don't function properly, or if they cause the game to lag or crash stop using them. Remember, install a mod, play, and if game lags or crashes, that's the mod that's causing it. Uninstall it.

The trouble is, we have all the noobs who are just now getting into modding this game, seeing all of the mods available, and going "Holy <expletive of choice>! I want ALL of these! NOW!"; and they proceed to do just that. Then they come to the forums asking which one of the 200 mods they just installed is causing the problem.
