Fallout 3 Wanderers Edition texture problems.

The textures are not missing, they are just not loading correctly. In certain random lighting situations the guns turn bright white, red, and other colors.

Same thing with added armors. All features of Fallout 3 Wanderers Edition work though.

I should also say that load order doesn't seem to be the problem because Fallout 3 Wanderers Edition was one of the first mods I installed, and the problem was still there back then. The other mods I had installed at the time were just megaton and tenpenny house mods.

Nevertheless your load order is definitely jacked up. Here are the items I see right off, though BOSS or FOMM's auto sort may differ slightly or make more changes than this. DarnUI should be much higher in the load order; Fellout should be much lower if not dead last; MMM should NOT be loading in before FWE; FWE's main file should be loading in before any of FWE's other esp files.....

I could go on in this vein for a bit, but it would be a drag for both of us. Suffice to say you need an automatic load sorter BADLY. I recommend BOSS, but if you are averse to that then you can use the auto sort function in FOMM instead, even though it tends to crash when you update its BOSS masterlist. BOSS is better, though, since it will not only sort for you but will also alert you to known incompatibilities and such.

Next thing you MUST have is the FOIP compatibility mod for FWE and MMM. Those two mods really cannot peacefully coexist without FOIP (Fallout Interoperability Project) which is available here on the Nexus. Edit: and after installing the FOIP for FWE-MMM, run the load sorter AGAIN.

Then your next unfulfilled need is a merged patch. I recommend a Bashed patch made with Wrye Flash, if you feel comfortable with it. I can give you more details on how to use it and/or point you to an excellent online manual/tutorial for it if you like. If you do not feel comfortable with it, however, then at least get and install FO3edit and make a generic merged patch with that. Again, I can give you additional details on how to do this if you need - just say the word either way you decide to go. Edit: you should always run your load sorter and then make a new merged patch every single time you make changes to the list of active mods...even if all you did was apply a hotfix or deactivate one.

Of all those problems, the one that is most likely the culprit for your specific issue is that last one, i.e. the lack of a merged patch. You really cannot run an overhaul mod without one, nor can you run multiple lesser mods without one, and not expect some glitches at best - massive crash and burn disasters at worst. But those other problems still need to be addressed first, or the merged patch is as likely to cause harm as help.

Edit: the main esp file of FWE loading after the FWE plugins might also be the cause of this particular problem since presumably that means FWE's own files have been loading in the wrong order ever since it was first installed, but those other things still need to be dealt with, and in that order.

Thanks, I used Boss before, but when I started Fallout 3, whenever I loaded a game, the end movie would play and broken steel wouldn't load.

I also have no Idea what a merged patch is. Any help would be appreciated!

That sounds like a corrupt save file, not a mod problem, and definitely not BOSS related.

Did you already get your load order sorted out and FOIP installed? Those things must happen before we move on to the merged patch.

Yes, I used BOSS and my load order got fixed. Used it on a clean save so everything is working fine now, except the textures are still missing. I noticed the missing pip boy textures for the new guns are fixed though, they used to be missing.

OK then, now it is time to break out a merge patch utility. There are two that actually work. The first and best is WryeFlash, but with the tradeoff that it is more intimidating and less automated. The second best solution is FO3edit, which is more automated but less likely to fix issues like this. I will give instructions for Wrye first, and if that doesn't look workable to you, just lemme know and I will post instructions for FO3edit.

WryeFlash - manual available here:

1. Get and install both Wrye Python 03A and Wrye Flash, in that order.

2. Run the WryeFlash program: note that it's executable will look odd; the filename to run is "Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw" . It will open a screen that lists all your installed mods, with their names color coded, check marks by the active ones and so on. It will look similar to FOMM's load order screen.

3. Somewhere prolly near the bottom of the load order you should see a file called "Bashed Patch, 0.esp". Right click on this file to open the context menu and click "Rebuild patch..."

4. It will almost certainly open another dialog window that lists some of your esps, says that they are mergeable, and asks if it is OK to deactivate them. Take note of which files it named and then click "Yes".

5, Now it will bring up a window with a bunch of options listed on the left side and an empty frame on the right. The second option listed on the left will be "Merge Patches". Select it and click to put a check in the checkbox next to it. You should now see a list in the right hand panel which names all those mods that were listed in step 4. Check the boxes next to all of them.

6. Click the button at the bottom of the window that says "Build Patch". A status window should appear to confirm that the patch was built successfully.

7. Close WryeFlash and open FOMM. Double check that the Bashed Patch is activated and is dead last in your load order. Now launch FOSE and test it out.
