Very Persistent and Pesky CTD...

Hey All,

So I'd never played Morrowind before, got a real itch to play, and bought it on steam. Ran it vanilla, no real problems. Wanted to mod, so I did the Morrowind Overhaul pack. Everything installed without a hitch, and got a nice CTD after some other graphical error (people had no heads and the ground was transparent among other things). I'm used to stuff like this not working first try so I tried to do some of the easy fixes, tried messing with some options, tried looking through the mod's posts for help, nothing worked. Deleted local files through steam and played vanilla. CTD. WTF. Disabled steam cloud, deleted the Morrowind folder, reinstalled. No CTD. Cool, maybe that was the problem with the mod. Install the mod. CTD right out the gate, after about half a second of a loading screen. Now I don't know what to even do. Post on the mod about my issue, guy who was basically moderating the posts and helping people walked me through some fixes, nothing worked.

This unnecessarily long URL leads to the posts where I was trying to get some help: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/36945/?tab=4&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fmorrowind%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D36945%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D296821&pUp=1

It might be worth noting, as I say in the posts on the mod, that I did move to Windows 10 about a week ago but then rolled back to Windows 7, which was an utter disaster, ended up having to clean install Windows 7, and there have been some issues from Windows 10 messing with things ever since. So that may be contributing to these problems, and of course, that leaves me in an insanely small demographic so I know that would be insane to try to get help with.

Basically, I'm at the point where I can get the game to run vanilla if I want, and that's cool and all, but seeing as I never played this until now, I would definitely prefer a modded version, as it is a bit dated. So, I'm asking if anyone could possibly help. Thanks in advanced.

Never do an upgrade/downgrade of your OS. Microsoft barely tests that s***. Always do a full install from bare metal.

I'd stick with Windows 7 until the sun burns out... or until you start thinking you need more than 192gb of ram... or hardware manufacturers just stop making drivers for it (unlikely to happen before we bump into the ram limit). It's the new XP.
