They spend every day in the mines, whether finding ore or not. I am wondering if there is a mod that makes mining feel more like what these people describe. Instead of having x number of mining locations with 9 ore each, you can spend days in the mine struggling to find ore.You can use Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade with Much slower and much ore or you can use yourcustom presets that you can create in the MCM Menu.
